In 1826 Sophia was not a minor as you said in your post.She was 22 years old if your birth dates for her are right 1804. Her son who had her power of atty did that so he could go to court on her behalf to get the money from her brother who sold the property in NC but probably never paid her the money. I would look in NC for further court action on this and also those counties in TX.There must more on it. Pat.
