Robert J. Tucker Jr. TUCKER, ROBERT J., JR., age 87, of Birmingham, AL, died July 9, 2004. Mr. Tucker was a graduate of Birmingham-Southern College. He had been an officer in the Navy and served in World War II in the Pacific. He was the treasurer for F. J. Evans Engineering Co. (Birmingham) for more than 30 years. He later served as president of his own accounting and manufacturing representative firm, R. J. Tucker and Associates, until his death. He was an avid wood craftsman and a member of the Alabama Woodworkers Guild and the Alabama Wood Turners Association. Many of his works are on display at Primtime Treasures in Homewood. He was a renowned gardener and won a Birmingham Beautification Award. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Birmingham. Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Mary Tucker; sons, Robert J. Tucker, III (Kathy) of Birmingham and William H. Tucker (Linda) of Daphne; grandchildren, Michael Robert Tucker of Birmingham, Amy Ballar (Chris) of Buford, GA, Kar! en Luce (John) of Mobile, AL, Susan Hanner (Rob) of Orlando, FL, Dr. Laura Cepeda (Matt) of New York City; great grandchildren, Jane Ballar of Buford, GA, and Shea Ballar of Buford, GA; nieces, Sally Penhallegon of Bellevue, NE, and Kathleen Wintter of Timisoara, Romania; nephews, John Chambers McCune of Hawkinsville, GA, and Rev. Ralph McCune of Dallas, TX. Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, July 13, 2004, at 11 a.m. in Elmwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 10 until 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Birmingham. Ridout's Elmwood Chapel is directing.
