    3. Kathy thank you, I have not visited the site, and I will check it out. Fortunately, or maybe unfortunately, I'm not sure which, I more time on my hands than I know what to do with, waiting on disability insurance to come in and working part time as a substitute para educator. Genealogy keeps me SANE. HaHa. By the way you have done a GREAT JOB with the current list. 3. For those interested in the New Tucker Mailing List (NewEnglandStatesTUCKERS) I just checked the status of this new mailing list. The information indicates it might take up to 10 days before we can actually be approved, I will keep everyone posted. Meanwhile, lets keep on researching, assisting one another, sharing information. I want to personally extend a great big THANK YOU to the list administrator of the current TUCKER site. 2. red
    3. Please anyone that is interested in this new site, email me, give me your name, email address, and the area of location that your ancestors were in, etc. I want to start compiling a list because I have submit it to the rootsweb administrator. If you could please email direct at red72@famvid.com rather than to the current Tucker-L list. I do want to say that this new list in NO WAY is trying to replace the current list, it is just an effort to join together those whose ancestors were in a certain area, because TUCKER is such a common surname, and so many of our ancestors had the same given name, we have felt that it might make it a little easier if we had a list that pertained to just the New England States. ANYONE that has joined the current list is more than welcome to join the new list as well, whether their ancestors were in the New England States or not. 3. Penny, My John Tucker was born 3 April 1836 "somewhere in England". He came to the US and settled in SC, where he enlisted in the Confederacy in 1861 at Britton's Neck, SC. I found him in the 1880 Horry County, SC Census, but I have not been able to locate him in a census prior to 1880. He was married twice that I am aware of - first to Sarah Jane Tindal (b.1845, d. 1872)) and then to Mary Jane Todd (b. 1850-1853, d. 1910). Will you please check the book to see if John's spouse, Sarah Jane "Sallie" Tucker, is listed in the index. I know he was in the NY/Delaware area when he first arrived in the US. Many thanks. 1. [TUCKER-L] TUCKER Book & or CD
    2. red
    3. Lafe, this is a book of Tucker genealogy written by Ephraim Tucker. Here is the information for the CD that is available on Ebay. I was wrong about the price. It's $16.99+, but still much cheaper than the hardcover book I bought. And easier to search, too. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2976923554&category=20926 The way I actually accessed the information on the CD was to go to EBay and then enter the item number on the search space. I could not pull it up using the exact url address listed above. It gives you an idea of what is in the book and on the CD. I'm not sure where one could actually purchase the book, I guess you could keep checking EBay to see if the book is available on EBay, from what I understand the book is quite expensive. Lafe, are you part of the Captain John Tucker/TOOKER line that began in England, and migrated to the New England States? If you are, I'm trying to set up a new TUCKER mailing list on rootsbweb.com. If it is approved it will be listed as NewEnglandStatesTUCKERS. 1. [TUCKER-L] Some spouse surnames that married a Tucker
    2. Penolope Giacoletti
    3. Jeannie: Todd and Tindel were not in the index. The five names with the most references out of a total of 119 are: Corlies, Maps, Smith,Throckmorton & Wooley. Dr. Tucker mentions a George and Thomas Tucker who went to VA 1635( my Tuckers were from VA). A Samuel Tucker moved to GA in 1817; James Tucker drown in New Orleans 1830;Leah Tucker Throckmorton moved 1817 to Ohio;Racheal Tucker Evans moved to Ohio as did Martha Tucker Didricksen;when Racheal Tucker Evans died her sister, Margaret Ann Tucker married her widower. Everyone else stayed in the New England area. Hopes this helps--I found no one in the book to link to. The Dr. tells of their medical history and even did a survey to show no hereditary disease in the Tucker family proper. Penny

    1. [TUCKER-L] Henry Tucker -England to New England
    2. Penolope Giacoletti
    3. In 1851 Dr. George H. Tucker wrote a little 43 page book on Henry Tucker born about 1627 in England and arrived with wife, Martha around the Massachusetts Bay Colony. Most of the names listed are James,John,Samuel, Henry, Brittain, Elizabeth, Hannah,Sarah, Mary. The family was pretty much in the NY,NJ area. When one female Tucker married a Tucker it was noted this was a different branch of the Tuckers. Dr. Tucker talks about the name Tucker and its different spellings--Richard Tucker being the first to come to the US in 1632 from England-bought land 1637 near what is known today as Portland,Maine. He did index the last name of the spouse so makes it pretty easy to find-so far none of the last names mentioned show up-if you have a last name and it is in the NY-NJ area before 1851, I can look and see if it is in the book. 3. Linda, Will you please check for John Tucker born 3 April 1836 in England, who signed up as a Confederate Soldier in Britton's Neck, SC. I have only been able to locate him in an 1880 Horry County, SC Census. I am trying to work backwards from this census to his days as a Private in the Infantry. Thank you. 3. New England Tucker mailing list sounds wounderful to me. If you have the time and want to start a list, then just go to http://resources.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/listrequest.pl and get started. I would love to join the list. you could advertise the new list in the Tucker list and I am sure you would get a lot of people signedup. 2. Oops, I almost missed your questions. First, I have an actual book. There is an index but there are so many Tuckers with the same first name it would take me all night to find yours without some idea of when and where they lived. Do you have anything like that on your Tuckers? Although I like having the book, what's sold on eBay is the CD with the actual images of the book. It's so much easier to do a "find" to search for a name than go back and forth between the index and several hundred pages of fine print in the actual book. I'll start looking tonight, but if you could give me approximate dates and locations, it will go a lot faster. Linda
