    3. Hi Carol, Better late than never! I'm so far behind in my genealogy email it's pitiful... As far as I can tell various Co's in this area of Mid-East TN has these "Entry Taker's Books". Apparently people could enter a certain amount or tract of unclaimed land and if improvements were made - "proved" it then it was theirs later. All very confusing. Also known as a "quit claim deed" or a deed you could have for property you had claimed if you didn't (or "quit") claiming anyone else's, and no one claimed yours, LOL! These weren't land grants and there was seldom ever an official deed or record. People would just sign their deed (if they had one after 50 or 60 yrs) and give it to a relative without ever having it registered or recorded. So they seldom show up in any court records! This was done here in Cumberland Co TN up until a few yrs ago! People still have these old deeds in the family having been passed around like an old car title thru the years and never bothered having them surveyed! My neighbor actually had a deed from his grandfather signed over to him that he had never had surveyed that his grandfather probably got from his the same way. The measurements were still in poles!! When he finally DID have it surveyed he found that he had a lot less land than he thought and some of it was ours :) Mary ----- Original Message ----- From: <carg2@webtv.net> To: <TUCKER-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, December 11, 2004 9:21 AM Subject: [TUCKER-L] Re: Clinton TUCKER > Mary Bell > > I'm interested in Clinton TUCKER b. 1789 Lincoln Co. 1. RE: [TUCKER-L] tuckers in georgia
    2. Paul Tucker
    3. In the book, "The Heritage of Rockdale County Georgia," on pate 207, there is an article about Richard Warren Tucker, Pioneer. I don't know how reliable this account is, but it lists the family of Thomas Tucker, followed by other family information. According to this account, Thomas is said to have been born in Amelia County, VA, and to have married Elizabeth Ashmore. His will, Jasper County, 1821 lists a wife named Elizabeth and children William, Margaret, Jeremiah, Sarah, Mary, Pointum, John, and Rody. Still according to this account, William married Delania Lindsay. Their sons were Madison Butler Tucker, Green Tucker, Thomas Tucker, Warren Tucker, and William Tucker. Madison and his wife, Evaline Amanda Mitchell had 9 children: Mary Lana (Molly), William Adolphus, Pleasant, Benjamin, Julia Ann, Ella, Emma, John Thomas, and Richard Warren. It may be significant that the account reads "Their sons," rather than "their children." This doesn't answer your question about the Warren Tucker, but it does indicate, to the extant that the article is accurate, that Madison had a brother Warren. The odds are good that the 1780 Rockdale Warren was probably his brother. I'm sure that you must have read the two accounts about Madison in this book (there is another one on page 206). The book is in the Conyers library, and other places. If you are not familiar with it, you should look at it. William supposedly came to Rockdale County (part of the former Newton county) from Jasper County, where Madison was born in 1826. Have you ever tried to look at the Jasper county census in the 1820-1850 time period to confirm which William listed in those years was the William who was the father of Madison? If so, what did you conclude?
