    3. I have a John Tucker b. 1757, place unknown. Died 1836 in Ashland Co., Ohio. He married Catherine UNK and had about 9 children born in Washington Co. PA. I know this is sketchy, but some similarities exist. Isobel On May 7, 2005, at 10:12 PM, TUCK wrote: > Looking for any information on this family of Somerset-Fayette > Co. Pa. There are a couple of sources. First the book The Making and Unmaking of a Revolutionary Family: The Tuckers of Virginia, 17521830 by Phillip Hamilton. The reviews were good. The other is Tucker Trails Through Southside Virginia, 1986, 321 pp, soft cover, deals primarily with the history of Capt. Robert Tucker Sr (c1677-1750), his seven sons, and their descendants, to about 1850, as they migrated through the southside Virginia counties of Charles City, Prince George, Amelia, Nottoway, Prince Edward, Lunenburg, Mecklenburg, Halifax and Pittsylvania. Available for $30.00 postpaid from the compiler, B. DeRoy Beale, 8529 Spalding Dr., Richmond, VA 23229. E-mail: bdbea@erols.com . If you order this book, make sure you order through him because the cost is over $90 in bookstores. I have not had the time to read either book yet but from what I understand after talking to Mr. Beale, his would be the most informative. Thanks, John R. 3. I am trying to locate a line of Tuckers who came into east Texas, reportedly first to Harrison Co, probably most recently from MS or AL. A cousins information is that my grt-grt grandfather George D. Tucker and at least his father (name unknown) came; is not known if a mother or siblings came nor even at this point if he had siblings, although a contact mentioned below has him possibly listed as one of several children, a sibling of his ancestor. Trying to find where he was born, who his parents were, etc. George and his wife Mary A. West married "near Marshall", which is in Harrison Co, Dec 14, 1854; their names arent listed with marriages for that county that year and probably they did marry near Marshall (as reported in a newspaper article) but in an adjoining county. At this point, Ive not located their marriage. Their son Lemuel or Limiel was born there the following year per his descendant, or a year or so later according to another source.. By 1860 census (think this is them) they were in Upshur Co, TX and did remain there through the 1880 census. In 1900 Geo. was living with son William and family in Kaufman Co, TX and evidently Mary had died. Geo. died in the Confederate Soldiers Home in Austin TX Dec 1900. George is listed in the census reports as having been from AL (twice) and Mississippi, possibly born in AL but responded MS on one report having come to TX from there?. Some years ago, before a computer crash, I communicated with another cousin who thinks this line might tie into his and it seems I recall he did think Geo was born in AL but some siblings in TN. The 80 census reports his father was born in GA and his mother in TN; 1900 says they were both born in AL. We have a birthdate of 1822 from one record, however, the census reports would indicate he was born between 1825 to 1831 per his reported ages. Birthdate listed in 1900 census looks like 1825 and he is listed as 74 yr old; in that one Wms mother is from TX though all other census reports when she was living says Mary was born in TN. There is a branch of Tuckers from AL & GA who are also in the Upshur Co. census reports and I felt we probably tied into from information shared, however, I cannot make the connection. Maybe someone has some additional information that will make my puzzle piece fit this line however. Children of Geo & Mary as constructed from census reports and information shared by descendants of them etc: Limiel Lauflin Tucker 10/2 1855(?) Tucker, 32 Yr. old peddlar from AL & Mary 26, from TN are in fact the same couple and would seem so, there was a Lewis (looks like) age 4 from TX, Mary (possibly it was Mary Elizabeth, or vice versa), 2, TX, & looks like Jeremiah, 7/12 TX; Lewis & Jeremiah must have died as young children if so?? Does someone have a line of Tuckers coming into east TX from probably Al and/or TN in 1850's that I might tie George into? Also, are there descendants of the above family who might share info on their line from Geo, Mary & children? Any clues and assistance sure would be appreciated to help me with them. Thanks, Sandra
