    3. Hi,I am at a brickwall and could really use some help. My ggggrandmother was Phebe(Phoebe) Tucker.Phebe was born about 1811 in North Carolina, so it said on the 1850 census in Surrey Cty., NC. Phebe Tucker and Hiram Collins posted bond on Jan. 8, 1828 in Surrey County, North Carolina. Their children were Obediah, Catharine, Almeda, David, Amanda, Lewis W., Dicy, Elizabeth, and Mary A.I have not been able to connect her to the other Tuckers in NC. But in the same book on bonds for Phebe and Hiram, I did see a David Tucker and Caty Day posting bond on Mar 18, 1806 in NC. I wondered if there is a connection. If anyone has any information on Phebe (or Phoebe) please let me know. I would greatly appreciate any and all help.Thank you,Carol _______________________________________________ Join Excite! - http://www.excite.com The most personalized portal on the Web!

I have seen Anna's name listed as Ann (on marriage application) and/or Martha Ann James. On later Census records it shows her birthplace as Tennessee. I have no other information about her or William Tucker. Also listed on the Blount Co, Tennessee Marriages is Elijah James that married Malinda Tucker on Jan. 16, 1820- I do not know if they are related but they were married by the same man, Samuel Douthitt, MG within a few weeks of each other. William and Anna settled in Madison County, Arkansas prior to 1850 where they appeared on the 1850 Madison County, Arkansas census. William and Anna, age 46 lived close to an Archibald Buchannon "By" James, age 44 born in Tennessee. 1. John Tucker married Laura Wilkinson before 1850 probably in Kentucky
    2. Does anyone have any information about a John Tucker who married a Laura Wilkinson? They had a son, John Lewis Tucker, born October of 1850 in Kentucky. On the death certificate for their son, John Lewis Tucker, it says that his parents, John and Laura (Wilkinson) Tucker were both born in Kentucky. I suspect that John Tucker and Laura Wilkinson were married in Kentucky. Appreciate any help. Thanks ~ Gloria

    1. Re: Rufus TUCKER
    2. To the list: While trying to estimate ages of George B and Margaret I discovered an error in the obituary for Martin Rufus TUCKER from the Nashville Christian Advocate. " Martin Rufus TUCKER son of George B. and Margaret TUCKER b. Giles Co. TN, Aug 17, 1837, m. Hibernia DOYLE, Oct 1888 ( children, John Doyle, Annie, Mattie E. and Willis Newton). She died Jul 1879. He died Apr 17, 1911. Methodist preacher, Tennessee Conference, ordained deacon, Oct 1865, ordained elder, Oct 1867." The marriage date is after the death date give for Margaret. I suspect they were transposed. Or maybe it should have been 1868 instead of 1888. Any ideas. Courtney, who is the other TUCKER family for the 1850 Giles Co. TN census. Thanks you all. TUCKER was never bound out was he? The bound boy of 7 is my grandfather Thomas A. Smith-born in 1873-and not Thomas W. TUCKER. who was born in 1850. There is another John M. TUCKER ( 2nd Company B 42nd Regt. NC Troops Volume 10, page 217. This John M. was born in Iredelll County. Enlisted in Rowan Co. on March 7, 1862; disharged October 30, 1863. Discharge certificate gives his age as 30 which would mean he was born in 1833. Do have this man in your file? Is it coincidecental that my grandfather would show up in a household that had a TUCKER in it without there being some relationship between the Burke County John TUCKER and Thomas W. TUCKER? But what is the relationship? Ray
