    3. Clara, Here is a Goodspeed bio that might be helpful to you: --- JOHN T. TUCKER is a native of Gasconade County, Missouri, and was born in 1853, being the son of THOMAS and JANE (MILLER) TUCKER, both originally from TENNESSEE, the former having been born in 1830. They were married in 1852. In 1866 John T., still a small boy, came to this township, and has since continued to reside here. In 1874 he was married to Miss MARY WALTERS, a daughter of WILLIAM WALTERS, and by this marriage there were four children, three of whom survive: WILLIAM C., Nellie F. and Effie. One died in infancy. Mr. T. is by occupation a farmer, but occasionally follows the trade of blacksmith, in which he is quite an adept." I found out that most of the documentation of Carols and my great grand parents and their parents was lost in the hurricane of 1900. It wiped out the court house in Matagorda which was the county seat of Matagorda county TEX. I didn't realize but the only family that survived was great granddad and his two brothers one of which was later killed in a railroading accident,(he was a brakeman) and the other was kicked in the chest by a mule. Granddad Tucker. (James Tucker) was with them also. The rest of the family was not ever seen again. So I am working on finding the line of Lemual Tarlton Tucker who was Great granddaddy's father. Jim, Thanks so much for this. I knew about the homestead as dad was born in Cheyenne OK in 1912. That's in Roger Mills county. That's where James Summerville (Granddad) ended up losing his construction outfit when he was building a railroad bed for an outfit there and they defaulted on the job when he was 5 miles from completing it. I believe it was around 200 miles of road bed. Granddad sold his outfit except for 3 teams and wagons to pay his debts. It wasn't long before he and Grandma Tucker packed up Lois, dad and I think uncle Ray and moved to Thoreau /1260.html> New Mexico. I found out that most of the documentation of Carols and my great grand parents and their parents was lost in the hurricane of 1900. It wasn't long before he and Grandma Tucker packed up Lois, dad and I think uncle Ray and moved to Thoreau <http://www.newmexico.org/place/loc/bymap/page/DB-place/place /1260.html> New Mexico. The Information that you sent Is really going to help I believe. -- General Notes for Child James Summerville Tucker [6274] -- where did he come from ?? 1871 Cornwall Census Occupants of Dwelling Parish S.DENNIS; District 26; Schedule 044 Position Marital Name in Family Status Age TUCKER, JOSEPH Head M 51 TUCKER, CAROLINE Wife M 48 TUCKER, JAMES Son U 17 TUCKER, JOHN Son U 14 TUCKER, RICHD Son - 10 Last Modified: 25 Jun 2006 --Original Message-- From: CarolCant@aol.com [mailto:CarolCant@aol.com] Sent: Tuesday, July 25, 2006 3:51 PM To: TUCKER-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [TUCKER-L] Tucker Reunion The annual Tucker Reunion will be held at the Jamie Whitten Center in Fulton, MS on September 16, 2006 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. All Tuckers and friends are invited to bring a pot lunch and visit.
