    3. I am sorry not much...that is where my own list quits, however I do have a note in my records, made by my now deceased mother made many years ago while in Oregon. She was inquiring of Damond Savage and his wife concerning the ancestry etc. She made a note in the records I am working with a birth date year of "1788". (Of course that was from family memories so should be considered questionable, oh that was in the early 40's while attending a Grandfather Savage funeral in Oregon, I was just a young child at the time.) Now only as a guess on my part I believe I would search in NC, since that seem to be the location others in the family also came from. 2. Robin Linn
    3. Hello All, I dug out another old CD to see if there were any Tuckers on it for the list. It is from the University of Newfoundland and contains information on mariners during the Nineteenth century. There were MANY Tuckers on the CD, most English, but some Americans. I will type the information for only those with birthplaces in the United States. The information can be lengthly or short - depending on what records were kept for which voyages. However, if you are looking for an English mariner let me know. If by some chance one of these belongs to you, let me know and I will send all the info on the ship and master. Robin B W Tucker, born in Alabama, age 23, could sign his name, paid 7 pounds for the voyage, advanced 3 pounds and 10 shillings, rank 10,(cook) signed on the ship in Barry Wales on Friday 30 Oct 1891 and was discharged in Cork on Tues 23 Aug 1892, ports visisted: Barry Wales, Falmouth England, Rio de Janiero Brazil, Barbados West Indies, Boston USA, Saint John Canada, name of vessel was "Luxor" Reg J877043, Official number 072318. S. Warren Tucker, age 19, born in Newark, NJ, could sign his name, was paid 1 pound and not shillings, rank, 11,(able bodied seaman) joined the ship in London on Tue 10 Jan 1882, was discharged at the end of voyage on Wed 08 Mar 1882 in New York City, name of vessel was "Wellington" Registration number W865029, Official number 052066, master was William Scott, age 32. B F Tucker, age 34, born in Portland, USA, could sign his name, paid 5 pounds 12 shilling 6 pense, cash advance of same amount, joined the ship in New Orleans on Monday 19 Feb 1872, rank 11,(able bodies seaman) discharged at end of voyage in Liverpool on Sat 30 Mar 1872. Ports visited Ardrossan and Lamlash in the Scotland Islands and New Orleans. Master was George Cawley, name of the ship was "Zimi." Benjamin C Tucker, age 24, born in Alabama, could sign his name, was paid 7 pounds for the voyage, joined the ship in Cork, on Friday 9 Sept 1892 and was discharged at the end of the voyage in Saint John, on Wed Nov 2 1892, Ports visited: South Barns Nova Scotia, Sydney Nova Scotia, reg J877043, official 072318, master Fredrick Anderson. 3. Janice.... I must send you a GREAT BIG thank you. Yes that is my Paternal line as some of the children come up the same as what I have in my records. The Nancy Dealy was married to my g.g.g. Grandfather William Tucker. You just filled in a large hole in my records. I just had to let you know how much I appreciate it. Hmm was the "Martin, Robert E. Lee, Tucker, that did it? Regardless I thank you. What a find.... May the Lord Bless you and yours Leonard Tucker. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Janice" <beagen48@peoplepc.com> To: <tucker@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, March 18, 2007 3:04 PM Subject: Re: [TUCKER] Tucker and Vaughan connection > Here is the url for the gedcom of Gary Tucker. I think that it may be the only way that you can begin to get things going along the right lines. Unfortunately, your Spam blocker seems to have rejected it. If you are interested in discussing a bit more about this, you can e-mail me. 2. gen42
    3. Does anyone know of any connection with Tucker's and Vaughan's in the early to middle 1700's in Virginia? There was an Ann Tucker Vaughan born in Goochland County, Virginia about 1772. Her father was Joseph Vaughan. Also in that general area was a man named Tucker Baughan who was about the age of Joseph Vaughan. I am "guessing" these men may have had a mother who was a Tucker in Virginia. Any information about these surnames will be appreciated. Thank you. Mary

    1. [TUCKER] Wagon trains and Tuckers in Missouri
    2. Robin Linn
    3. Reading Leonard's post about his Tuckers starting West from Missouri gave me a thought - as many of the LDS immigrants who came to the US used Missouri as a wagon train starting place for their journey to Utah and many were Welsh. They usually arrived in New York and made their way via boats in the Great Lakes and then train cars to Missouri. I checked an old CD I have on those immigrants for all Tuckers and what I found is below. These people are probably not Leonard's family, but it may connect to someone. The early Mormons had something called a "Perpetual Fund" which provided tickets and leased ships from England for their members who wanted to come to America. During the late 1840's and up the Church membership drew heavily from the Welsh and English community. Not all "members" who came through this fund were in it for the church. Many professed belief in England and when they arrived in the United States, they left for destinations other than Utah or stayed somewhere along the way. Their objective was a ticket here. I had a widowed Welsh great grandmother (Williams) who brought her children here under the Perpetual fund, and then went right on past Utah and the LDS to Montana. Also remember, for many of the ox-cart and wagon trains, the death toll on the route was high. Some groups made it across the plains with no problems (I had one great aunt who said she picked flowers all the way) but other families were decimated by illness and horrific weather. Robin The date below is the date they emigrated, the family ID is the first number and the second number is how many in that family group. Some are listed twice as they are listed on a passenger list, or wagon train list and/or in an LDS history publication.
