    3. Hi, There is a Samuel TUCKER listed in the 1768 tax list for Rowan Co. NC. He is listed as a pol in the household of William LEDFORD. This tax list was taken in the region that is now Southern Guilford Co. and Northern Randolph Co. These tax lists are from the parent Co. of Rowan. Joan --- "E. 3. Hi, Iredell was cut from Rowan Co. in 1788. Rowan has a wealth of old records. I know that your people were of a later era but you might find him with his parents in the Rowan records. Good luck. 3. Gracie and others, My earliest TUCKER is: Clinton TUCKER b. 1789 Lincoln Co NC. d. 1872 TN, m. Rebecca MUNDAY 1819, George TUCKER is listed as bondsman, Tryon Co NC. Clinton is a Methodist Episcopal Preacher, moved from NC to Limestone Co AL by 1830, by 1834 he was in Warren Co TN. Clinton's brother, George TUCKER b. 1787, NC, d. Giles TN, m. Margaret ( Peggy) CLINE b. 1791, NC. George moved to Giles Co TN by 1830 and pretty much stayed there. The only TUCKER on the 1790 Lincoln Co NC census that could possibly be the father of these boys was Samuel TUCKER. He is listed with two sons the right ages and his wife. I have no proof that he indeed was their father. Associated by marriage to the above men's children and grandchildren were: DOYLE,HAGUE, KYLE, CAMPBELL, BEE, PEGRAM, CHARLES, VAUGHN, DAVIDSON, BOSWELL, SPENCER Taking these people back beyond 1789 is a real challenge. I'd go the DNA route but can not find a TUCKER male cousin. The more I think I know the more condused I become. Thank you Carol

    3. Thanks Lafe. I don't have his birth year, but I believe his daughter Amanda was born in 1836 (in Texas, the year of the ALAMO). He landed near Seguin or San Marcos, Texas and probably was involved in some Indian Fighting. Must have just got into Texas under the wire before the Mexicans decided to close the border -- ironic, huh? But where he was before Texas is still a mystery. Tucker family was married into the Turner Family (Calvin S. Turner married Amanda Tucker) in Texas. Is the Ezekiel you refer to in Virginia? 1. [TUCKER] Tuckers: Virginia-North Carolina-Georgia
    2. I have been intrigued by some of the recent emails and wonder if they tie in with our Tuckers. Benjamin Tucker, Sr. married Elizabeth Crofford. They had children, John Tucker, born about 1745; Benjamin Jr., born about 1747; William Tucker, born about 1748; Henry Crofford,(Sr.) born 23 February in either 1751 or 1752; Winifred, born about 1754; Phoebe, born about 1758. Henry Crofford Tucker (Sr.) was born in Southampton County, Virginia, 23 February 1751/52; died after 1832 in Lowndes County, Georgia. He Married Sarah Hunter in North Carolina. Sarah Hunter was born abt. 1784 in North Carolina. The following information was in the History of Colquitt County, Georgia by W.A. Covington reprinted 1980: Elder Henry Crawford Tucker, settled in Colquitt County before 1830 and who died in the County about 1881. The Elder was married to three wives, who bore him 32 children, all of whom be brought to adulthood and all of whom except one married and reared large families in Colquitt County. The exception was a girl of seventeen, who died from burns received when she fell into a kettle of boiling syrup and figs, which she was tending in the yard to her father's residence. The Elder himself was killed by a runaway horse when he was still "going good" at eighty-one. History of Colquitt County, Georgia by W.A. Covington reprinted 1980, pages 55 and 56. Storm: on the second day of March, 1877; and, like all such storms moved along towards the northeast. It came along between Ochlochnee and Meigs in Thomas County, coming along to the southeast of what is now Funston in Colquitt, and struck the double-pen log residence of Elder Henry Crawford Tucker, a matter of one and one-half miles north of the Moultrie and Camilla paved road....It struck the Tucker double-pen amidships, buckled down a little and slapped every pound of power it had into the contest. It was a case of the "irresistible force coming in contact with an immovable object,"...when the brief struggle was over, the cyclone went roaring into the Ochlochnee swamp, with every outhouse and tree about the Elder's place prostrate, and most of them in the swamp. But the "Double-Pen" was there--not on account of the fact that the elder had founded it on the rock; but because it was necessary for it to be moved as it stood, if it was to be moved at all. All the logs were joined together by wooden corner pins. page 230, History of Colquitt County, Georgia, W.A. Covington, reprinted 1980. 3. Do you know if they were born in Virginia or married in Virginia? There was a Joseph Vaughn who married Ann Payne before 1770. They named a daughter Ann Tucker Vaughn. 3. Tennessee must have been a major crossroads state. My Tuckers moved from the Bucks Co., area in Pennsylvania to the Washington, Co., Tennessee area and then on up to the Miami Co., Ohio area. They were Quakers (not known for how long) and I have received some support for my unofficial speculation that this was some kind of migration route for Quakers. Anyone out there have any more info on any of this?
