    2. They moved from sw Penn. to Ohio in 1829. The church must have been there in the 18 hundreds to around 1950.. It has just wasted away...their is a cemetary there..where I saw several Coon's tombstones...a Rev. Coon's must have started the church..because he is burried near the church. Many of my distant relatives are burried there...I can not find much history on the church....It is in Noble Co. Ohio. It was called Coon.s M. E.Church. -----Original Message----- From: patience Sent: Monday, April 30, 2007 2:09 PM To: tucker@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [TUCKER] Tucker-Devonshire.Coon's? Do you know what time period this was? 3. Thank you for this. I got off a message to a Devon Tucker. Hopefully I will find a connection to my Cooms. Is there a page open to the public showing the Tucker DNA values? I would like to compare my Cooms in case of an adoption. Patience Tucker, Walt wrote: >No cost. It is just a single web page with the lines of various Tuckers who have submitted to DNA testing. Mustered out Company H, 4th Cavalry Regiment Iowa on 08 August 1865 in Atlanta, GA The Columbus Journal, Oct. 24, 1883: Platte County, Neb. 1883 County Ticket, John Tannahill Republican candidate for county commissioner was born at Huntingdon, Canada, March 12, 1845, and is therefore in the 38th year of his age. In 1856, his father removed to Chickasaw county, Iowa. John was the oldest child of the family, and when his father enlisted in the service of the United States in 1861 (in the 7th Iowa) John had a good deal to look after, for a boy of sixteen; still more, when his father, after having honorably served his country, in the vicissitude of battle was taken prisoner at Belmont, and died at Annapolis just after being exchanged. Like all other patriotic young men of the time, however, the incidents of the war, the cause of the Union, and the necessity of the preservation of the government were so engrossing that the beginning of the year 1865 found young Tannahill, at the age of 20, enlisted in the 156th Illinois regiment, and campaigning in Georgia in Gen. A.J. Smith's division. Of course his service was brief, because the war soon ended. ! In the seven months of his companionship with the boys in blue he was thoroughly imbued with the military spirit, and if called into duty today would make a model citizen-soldier. While in Iowa Mr. Tannahill was elected road supervisor in a very thickly settled district, giving excellent satisfaction. In 1869 he removed to Nebraska, taking a homestead in Butler County, and operating as a farmer and a grower of and dealer in garden seeds, in which he has gained an enviable reputation, all through Nebraska. While living in Butler county Mr. T. served six years as school director and two terms as justice of the peace, showing the qualities that always characterize him, wherever he is placed-affability and a strict regard for justice and right. We don't know of a single enemy that Mr. Tannahill has in all the wide world, and his friends will take pleasure in voting for him, because they can do so without misgivings of any sort. Nashua Reporter, May 10, 1906: Big Loss by Fire. David Biegert Loses Nearly All His Property By Fire. Carried no Insurance The following from the Algona Courier, tells of the recent loss by fire sustained by David Biegert of Algona, who until a few years ago, was a resident of this vicinity: "One of the most disastrous fires, perhaps in the history of this township, visited the David Biegert Tuesday night one mile north of town on what is known as the Langel place. Mr. Biegert was awakened from his sleep about eleven thirty o'clock by the crackling of the flames which apparently had started in a large crib, granary and shed combined and were carried from this structure to the barn. The high wind from the south which prevailed at the time carried the flames northward to a hog house and from this to a chicken house and thence to another crib. All of these buildings were entirely consumed. Mr. Biegert and hired man made a desperate effort to get to the barn in order to try and save the stock but the heat was so intense that their efforts proved unavailing. The residence was threatened and it r! equired the combined efforts of Mr. Biegert, wife and hired man to save this structure and there was no one left to summon aid. The wind mill being on fire and impossible to get to the water tank made the fire a difficult task. A barrel of rain water which luckily stood near the house enabled the family to save the residence. Mr. Biegert's loss is enormous. Practically everything in the way of stock, machinery, etc. were consumed. A partial list of loss follows: seven head of horses, seventeen head of cattle, including ten milch cows and a fine thoroughbred bull. The latter animal was owned by Mr. Doerfler of Wesley. Ten hogs including four fine brood sows, 200 chickens, 15 tons of timothy hay, 300 bushels of corn and oats, farm and spring wagon, several sets of harness and numberless pieces of other farm machinery. Mr. Biegert carried no insurance on his personal property. The place is owned by Mr. Doerfler of the First National Bank of Wesley and at this writing! we do not know if the buildings were insured. In addition to! the abo ve, Mr. Biegert had lost a fine mare only a few days previous to the fire. We have heard a number of our citizens a willingness to aid the Frisco sufferers and while these intentions were commendable, we would suggest that at least a part if not all such funds be turned over to Mr. Biegert for he doubtless requires and surely deserves prompt aid." Nashua Reporter, May 7, 1908: The city and vicinity column A letter from David Biegert, a former resident of this vicinity, but who for some time has been living near Algona, Iowa, informs us that he has moved his family to Bellingham, Wash. The letter says in part, "We arrived here last week and it seems like home, as I see so many of my old Nashua friends. It is a fine country to live in, with something doing all the time." Nashua Reporter, Sept. 27, 1923: David Biegert Dies at Bellingham David Biegert, a former resident of this community for many years, passed away Sept. 10, 1923, at his home in Bellingham, Wash. I found out that most of the documentation of Carols and my great grand parents and their parents was lost in the hurricane of 1900. It wiped out the court house in Matagorda which was the county seat of Matagorda county TEX. I didn't realize but the only family that survived was great granddad and his two brothers one of which was later killed in a railroading accident,(he was a brakeman) and the other was kicked in the chest by a mule. Granddad Tucker. (James Tucker) was with them also. The rest of the family was not ever seen again. So I am working on finding the line of Lemual Tarlton Tucker who was Great granddaddy's father. Jim, Thanks so much for this. I knew about the homestead as dad was born in Cheyenne OK in 1912. That's in Roger Mills county. That's where James Summerville (Granddad) ended up losing his construction outfit when he was building a railroad bed for an outfit there and they defaulted on the job when he was 5 miles from completing it. I believe it was around 200 miles of road bed. Granddad sold his outfit except for 3 teams and wagons to pay his debts. It wasn't long before he and Grandma Tucker packed up Lois, dad and I think uncle Ray and moved to Thoreau /1260.html> New Mexico. I have found no French (though related to the French Tuckers in Louisiana). The Blackfoot turned out to be a derogatory term for relatives who were Cherokee, as those on Trail of Tears often had black feet from no shoes or worn out shoes. My Tuckers ultimately turned out to be related to the Tuckers in Tavistock, Devonshire England. They ultimately go back to John Tucker in 1066 which came from Normandy (France) with William the Conqueror. So there was some French but good grief, how long does that story go in a family! tuck33@webtv.net wrote: I know we Tuckers are all related some how.and we came to this country from somewhere......But before the late 1700's in Fayette Co. O. TUCKER, in Ringling at noon August 21. He has been in declining health for several months. Mr. Tucker was born at Louden, Tennessee April 11, 1864. Together with his nine brothers, he came to Oklahoma and settled in the Loco community in 1893 where he stayed. He was master Mason at the Leon lodge, one of the few in Indian Territory. Later he helped to organize the lodge at Dixie and the Loco lodge. At one time he and eight brothers were members in the same lodge. On October 7, 1901 he was united in marriage to MISS IDA OWENS and to this union two children were born. He was a member of the Methodist Church at Loco. He is survived by his wife, MRS. IDA TUCKER, son M. O. TUCKER of Ringling, and a daughter MRS. ANNA FAE HARWELL of Bristow; two brothers BUD TUCKER of Temple and HENRY TUCKER of Oklahoma City; a grandson BILLIE TUCKER of Ringling, a granddaughter FAE DEAN HARVELL of Bristow, all present at the funeral. The funeral was conducted by Rev. T. A. FOWLER, former pastor of Ringling Methodist Church and Rev. MCDOWELL, an old friend of the Tucker boys who has attended the funeral services of six of the eight deaths in the family of ten boys. 1. Re: [TUCKER] Tucker-Devonshire.Coon's?
    2. Here is a slight possibility of a link. My Family..John Tucker settled in Seneca Twp, Southeast Ohio..Near thier home was a church...started by a Rev. Coons...One of the Tucker daughters married into the Coons family. I thought maybe this coons family...might have moved west with or at the same time. from Penn. My family was definitely linked to the church. I have not found any definite history....I have head from another distant relative...that these two families were close..and their were several Coon's in that area. I may be spelling the name wrong..or maybe they changed the spelling of coon.s.....Anyway the church is gone..but the cemetery is still there. There are several Coon's buried there....I know this is a hit in the dark...but hope it may be related. Thanks Bob -----Original Message----- From: patience Sent: Friday, April 27, 2007 3:21 PM To: tucker@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [TUCKER] Tucker-Devonshire A great idea. Our DNA does not match any of the Combs, Cooms, Coomes etc. so far. There is a record of a Mary Tucker marrying a Coombs in Daratmore. It is much too early for a connection as it was in the early 1700s. Possibly 3-4 generations before our James Tucker Coomes. Our family legend is that Jameses father, born in England, was the captain of a British ship that was lost at sea sometime before 1842. It wasn't long before he and Grandma Tucker packed up Lois, dad and I think uncle Ray and moved to Thoreau <http://www.newmexico.org/place/loc/bymap/page/DB-place/place /1260.html> New Mexico. The Information that you sent Is really going to help I believe. ============= General Notes for Child James Summerville Tucker [6274] ============= where did he come from ?? 1871 Cornwall Census Occupants of Dwelling Parish S.DENNIS; District 26; Schedule 044 Position Marital Name in Family Status Age TUCKER, JOSEPH Head M 51 TUCKER, CAROLINE Wife M 48 TUCKER, JAMES Son U 17 TUCKER, JOHN Son U 14 TUCKER, RICHD Son - 10 Last Modified: 13 Apr 2007 keep in touch, Have a wonderful day Jim Rader jim@rader.org www.rader.org 916-366-6833 ps A new Rader book is now available. 3. Hi Pauline. I am a Tucker/Campbell (Tucker fromDevon England and Campbell from Perth Scotland who migrated to Canada in late 1800's. Are you interested in the Campbells? If so, I have a lot of info I'm willing to share. My Tuckers start in 1710 with Richard, son John, grand-son Edward 1777 born in Virginia. 3. A great idea. Patience Kelly Bernal wrote: >I don't have any Coomes or Combs in my Tucker lines. 3. No, sorry, I meant a Tucker and a Vaughan family connection. They went to North Carolina from Virginia. I am stuck in North Carolina - I know they came from Iredell County but the records were destroyed so I have had no luck finding them there and, hence, getting any further back. >>> "gen42" <gen42@comcast.net> 04/27/07 3:15 PM >>> Was this person named Tucker Vaughan?
