Hello, I'm re-posting my research and would dearly love to hear from anyone with an interest in my Tuckers or Vaughans as I have been stuck for a long time. WILLIAM and Elizabeth (VAUGHAN--my line) TUCKER emigrated from the Wells area in Somerset, England probably in the mid-late 1800s and settled in the northern NY state, in the Auburn area. Some later moved west to California. William and Elizabeth had 10 children. I can supply names. I'm looking for descendents. Any interest? Thanks. I'm wondering if there were any Turners mixed up with your Tuckers -- my Turners and Tuckers eventually wound up in Texas. Thanks Sarah Pauline Campbell <pcampbell@execulink.com> wrote: Hello, I'm re-posting my research and would dearly love to hear from anyone with an interest in my Tuckers or Vaughans as I have been stuck for a long time. Paul, When I first began researching the Tucker surname, I thought that the name "Anderson" must surely be an unusual one. I had found the ever-present John, James, Henry, Thomas, William etc., but "Anderson" seemed to be somewhat unique. It didn't take me long to learn that there were QUITE A FEW Anderson Tuckers :) I have, however, encountered the name Robert Anderson Tucker, but I don't remember offhand in what context. James Tucker and Eliza Tucker haven't come up in anything I've run across yet. Where was James Tucker born? How does he fit with Moses Tucker (b. 1793 d. 1886) of Kentucky? I've had the DNA testing done at FamilyTreeDNA (www.familytreedna.com/public/tucker) that shows that I am a member of the Thomas Tucker/Tucker (TTT) group. The ancestors of this group came from Virginia and then into North Carolina by the 1750s. After that, branches seem to go all over. There was a branch that split off and went into Alabama. My Tuckers went from North Carolina (probably by way of Jefferson County, Tennessee) into Adair County Kentucky (by 1802, the earliest record). My gg-grandfather then migrated to Indiana by 1829 (where he was married) and then across the Oregon Trail into Oregon in 1852. We've been here ever since. A descendant of Moses Tucker that I have been corresponding with for a while also had the DNA testing done. The results would seem to indicate that we are somehow related. I continue to think that Henry Ballinger Tucker (my gg-grandfather) and Moses Tucker (his ggg-grandfather) were brothers. Most of the circumstantial evidence seems to point that way. My William Tucker of Adair County, Kentucky had six children. I think I know four of them. That leaves the possibility that James is one of the missing ones, although I am not sure I could attach a high probability to that right now. More likely, there is some convergence of ancestry farther back in time. I don't know if this helps. If you have more information that might tie into anything I've brought up, please let me know. Leonard, My great-grandfather, William Anderson Tucker (went by Anderson) married Elizabeth SMITH on July 25, 1833 in Lawrence Co. AR. They moved to Johnson Co. IL where Anderson's father, Aaron Tucker, had settled. This was in the region of Johnson Co. that later became Pulaski Co. IL. Elizabeth was born April 14, 1815 in TN and died in 1884 on Taum's Creek in Reynolds Co. MO. Anderson then married Mary Elizabeth (Jenkins) Sprague, Nash. She was born July 4, 1853. After Anderson's death on January 1, 1900, she married a blind man by the name of John Long. She eventually moved with two of her sons, Archie Nash and James Henry Tucker to Texarkana, AR where she died December 5, 1929. So, my William isn't your William, but I have seen information on your William and Surry was cut from Rowan. Unfortunately, there were several William Tuckers in that particular region of NC at the same time. That just perpetuates the confusion that seems to plauge us that research Tuckers :) Good luck in your quest. There must be 10 billion Williams in this country alone. My great grand father having been one. I think I shell never find too much on him, but I keep trying.... My grand mother's father was William Tucker from Georgia. I have very little information on him, so I always ask if I see a Tucker surname mentioned. Her name was Effie Stewart Tucker, brothers were Will (William), and James, (Jim) Her mother's maiden name was Stewart, and I have reason to believe she was from SC. If you have run across any of these names, I would be delighted to hear from you. Sharon & Jerry, You can visit familytreedna.com I think the website is pretty specific on how to enroll in the Y-DNA project. Further, if you enroll under the Tucker Project you will get a discounted price. If it is economically possible for you, you should enroll for the 67 marker test. If that isn't possible, at least try to opt for the 37 marker test. By the way, what evidence do you have that John who married Isabella Scott Pryor was the son of Benjamin? John Jr. is mentioned in his father, John Sr.'s will and I believe that he can be defined through his land. A transcription of the wills of both John Tucker, Sr. and John Tucker, Jr. are now on the web. John Sr. mentions his son John and his daughter, Amorall. Amorall (spelled variously) married a WEBB. There is documentation for these family connections. George (Rev. Vet) is defined by his accession to his father's land which was left to Morgan by his father John Jr. I am curious about the Benjamin connection. Can you explain it? Also, could you both email me privately and send me your lineages. If you aren't yet in the "Project" then you don't have a posted lineage on the "Public Page" and I really would like to know what yours are since you seem to be linked to our line. My line is: Aaron Tucker born 1768 in Maryland William Anderson Tucker born 1813 in Rowan Co. NC Jasper Newton Tucker born 1857 in Iron Co. MO William Washington Tucker born 1880 in Reynolds Co. MO. Strange thing right here in two counties of SE. Ohio their were four different Tucker families that did not claim to be related. One line claims as their birth place as Ireland, as reported in the early 1800's census. My family clamed to be Irish but seams to begin with William Tucker born 1775 in SE Penn. I can not find out who William's father was. At this time their were a lot of Scotch Irish coming to America.
