I have a Joseph Tuckerer b. c. 1756, wife Elizabeth, he enlisted in the Revolutionary war in 1777, giving his residence as Sharon CT. Research does not show a Tucker family there. He applied for a pension from Plattsburg, Clinton Co., NY. the names of his children should give some clue to his family, Silas was his first b. abt 1788, John, Joseph, Lewis, abt 1791, Isaac, abt 1798, Ezra abt 1806 and Betsy, abt 1808, My ancestor was Isaac who married unk and had William, who according to Exra's will, went to sea and was never heard of again, he also had Maria who married James Monroe Felton and went to Ill, Ks and was later buried in Guthrie, OK, Isaac later married Louisa from VT. and had Pricilla, Ezra, Sally, Joseph, Catherine and Frank, none of whom I can find. Anyone knowing of this family I sure would apreciate any help. Thank you, Yvonne

Thanks Ken. . . I really don't know exactly what I am looking for except for one point: Did any of your Washington Co Tuckers move on into Ohio and if so, what years? The Tucker I'm looking at ends up in Athens OH. One other thing that might help me is knowing if they had any marriages with Robinettes/Wilsons/Willisons/McIntires/Jones/Lazear/Wells and one last thing -- how close was your family to the VA/WV line? Joan, Thanks so much for this additional information! Do you know if this Mayflower book is for sale? I'll have to look around online and in the public library here (way down in Dallas). It sounds like a possibly common title. These people sure likes to name their kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids the same names. Makes it pretty hard for us to track everyone down, eh? So many John's, and that's what I'm looking for most! hehe. Have you seen any reference to John Tucker Sr (son of Abraham Jr), born 1731 in Dartmouth? I have records showing his death two years after birth and yet I believe this is my John Tucker that lived to be 100 years old. I'll dig around to see I can find this book, sounds like a good one to have in your collection (or have easy access to it). Are you into genealogy professionally or are you just a very nice, helpful person? Thanks! Joan, Thanks so much for this information! I surely hope this Henry Tucker is linked as I think he is. Do you have anything about his son Abraham (from Henry's marriage to Martha Mott)? I'm actually the most interested in Abraham's son Abraham and his children. I believe Abraham Jr had John Sr who I'm trying desperately to tie to my John Sr that was born in MA and moved to PA. Looks like I might have to plan a trip to Dartmouth! Ken, I have the following information I think that the calendars from this era were the Gregorian calendars and not the Julian calendars that we currently use. So, the first month probably wasn't January. I would have to look to see how the months fell. Will of Henry Tucker of Dartmouth dated the "first Day of the first month 1693/4" "First I Desire my soule may returne to god who gave it me & Rest with him for Ever". To my wife Martha Tucker twelve pounds yearly during her life, also one feather bed and what clothing doth belong thereto. To my daughter Sarah Tucker threescore pounds "in as much as She hath had no portion as yet". To my son Abraham Tucker L30 in money. To my grandchild Henry Tucker son of Abraham Tucker one half of all my lands, when he comes to age of twenty one, but if my wife is living he shall not possess the same until her death, also I give him twenty pounds, because I have given him no part of my house or orchard. To the four daughters of my son Abraham Tucker "which his first wife Mary Tucker bare Unto him" viz. Mary, Patience, Martha and Abigail, then pounds, each when they come to age of sixteen years. If any of said daughters die, her legacy to be equally divided among the survivors. To my son in law Nathaniel Slocum twenty pounts in money or goods. To son in law Samuel Pery twenty pounds in money. "I give to the Church of Christ and people of god in scorne Caled Quakers on Road Island" five pounds. Rest of estate to son John Tucker, he to be sole executor. Sitnessed by John Akin Thomas X Briggs and Eliazar Smith. The three above witnesses all living at Dartmouth, made oath to above will before Jno. Saffin (Sassin?) John Cary, Registr at Bristol, July 3, 1694. Entered July 4, 1694 by Jno Cary, Registr. Inventory of the estate of Henry Tucker late of Dartmouth taken May 1, 1694 by Jonathan Russell and Thomas X Briggs and sworn to by John Tucker of Dartmouth before John Saffin (Sassin?) Esq. at Bristol, July 3, 1694. John Cary, Registr. Recorded July 5, 1694 by John Cary, Registr. Amount L362..09..02" Joan (Tucker) Flatt > >Content-Type: text/plain > >TUCKER-D Digest Volume 04 : Issue 34 > >Today's Topics: > #1 Tuckers in MA / PA ["Ken Tucker" ><kentucker27@hotmail.] > #2 Tucker in NH ["Penolope Giacoletti" ><azaeox3@cyb] > >Administrivia: >To unsubscribe from TUCKER-D, send a message to > > TUCKER-D-request@rootsweb.com > >that contains in the body of the message the command > > unsubscribe > >and no other text. Fran: Mary Jane Tucker was my gggrandmother. She was the d/o(only child) Gallant"Dock" Tucker and Eliza Garrison. Dock's parents were Creed Haskin Tucker and Luvina Jones( Mitch Jones' Prettyman(Capt. Pert)Jone's line). Mary Jane was born in or about Putnam Co., TN in Aug 1865 and we have found out died in CA in 1946. She married at 14 and had 11 children-in 1910 after her husband, Napoleon B."Nep" Medley died she married Daniel L. Smith and went to IN>CA. Gallant has a 121 page Civil War file. I have worked on the Tuckers back to VA, NC, KY and TN. Will be happy to share what I have with you. Penny........ Read your mail and am curious....Tuckers in TN. I'm related to the Tuckers in TN. My Mother was a Tucker. Do you care to tell me which Tuckers are related to??? Fran
While doing some researching, I ran across the following from: History of Rockingham County, NH and Representative Citizens by Charles A. Hazlett, Richmond-Arnold Publishing Co., Chicago, Ill., 1915. 2 Jan 1760: mentions Ezra Tucker-- Lewis G. Tucker, Co K, 15th Regiment; enlisted 29 Oct 1862 and discharged 13 Aug 1863. Sandown once part of Kingston, NH--Moses Tucker, a pioneer in 1736. Later Benjamin Tucker was mentioned as an early settler in the area. A vote was held 24 Sept 1746 that included Moses, Benjamin and Jacob Tucker. To read more go to Rockingham Co.,NH on your search engine-you will find some great photos of the old metting houses as well. Penny NM Tuckers in TN
Hello all! I'm looking for any information on a JOHN TUCKER SR. b1731 Dartmouth, MA who moved to Washington Co, PA around 1770. Once arriving in PA, he had many children and established the Tucker M.E. Church which is still in service today! I believe my JOHN TUCKER SR. is a descendent of HENRY TUCKER b1619 in Devonshire, England, who later died in 1694 in Dartmouth MA. My information shows this link between HENRY and JOHN: HENRY TUCKER -> ABRAHAM TUCKER SR -> ABRAHAM TUCKER JR -> JOHN TUCKER SR If anyone has any info on any of these Tuckers or others related, please contact me. Thanks! Ken Tucker _________________________________________________________________ Tax headache? ID#IO1934 states that James Thomas Tucker was born in NY and died in Imperial County Ca. that his spouse was Madie Loraine Robbins. James Thomas Tucker was married to Madie Loraine Robbins, however he was not born in NY and he is still living in Ft Smith Ar. Madie Loraine Robbins Tucker died in 1957 in Imperial County Ca. I know that this information is correct because I am one of the six children of Madie Loraine Robbins and James Thomas Tucker. I know that my Father was never in NY, he was born in Ok or Ar. What is the source for the names of his children? (estate settlement or Bible). I know that the George of the Bute Co. NC will doesn't name his elder children in his will and the name of the wife in the will was Jemima. There was a George Tucker Jr. (son of "Cabarrus George") whose wife was named Margaret in the will and he had daughters named Margaret and Alcie (so some such spelling---I think the name was probably Alice and the spelling was corrupted) and he also had a son named Thomas (I think---would have to check). But, the bottom line is that there were several George Tuckers in this vicinity at the same time and they all seemed to migrate in the same direction (ie. to middle TN and some on into AR, IN and IL). It is really difficult to sort them out. So, it helps to have the names of the children in order to sort out this large group of Tuckers. Thanks so much!!
