    3. Covington, W. A., History of Colquitt County Atlanta, Ga.: Foote and Davies Co., 1937 The book does document, on page 59, the death of a girl by scalding, but she is said to be the daughter of Elder Henry Crawford Tucker (d. 1881). He had had three wives and 32 children. He was killed, by a runaway horse, at age 81. (A Henry Tucker in Colquitt is listed in the 1860 census as father of an Isaac Tucker.) The girl, no name given, was 17 when she fell into a kettle of boiling syrup and figs which she was tending in the yard. Elsewhere in the book is reference to cooking coffee in a 90 gallon syrup kettle in a yard for a wedding party by John Tucker, so the one she fell into was probably very big also, maybe the same one. --- Lafe Nelson <lanelson@execpc.com> wrote: > I am trying to verify the death of a TUCKER > daughter that was scalded to death. > It is supposedly in a book HISTORY of COLQUITT > COUNTY. __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? 2. Thank you, Louise, for your expression of sympathy. Robert Jacob Tucker, Jr. was my father. He was a wonderful man, but, after all, he was a Tucker. In response to your question about his parents, I will briefly list the information I have. Robert Jacob Tucker, Jr. (Birmingham, AL) 1917-2004) Parents: Father: Robert Jacob Tucker, Sr.; 1880-1975, born in Jefferson Co. IL Mother: Kathleen Howard Grandfather: Jacob Conrad Tucker; 1845-1916, Jefferson Co. ILL (Opdyke) Grandmother: Emily B. Foster (married to Jacob Conrad in 1880 in Jefferson Co. IL) Jacob Conrad’s mother might be Catherine Tucker (1817-1887). She is buried in the same cemetery plot in Opdyke IL. There is also a Nathaniel Tucker (1839-1907) buried in this plot. Nathaniel is possibly Jacob Conrad’s brother. Jacob’s first wife (married 1871 in Jefferson Co. IL) was Martha Colburn, but I do not know if there were any children from that marriage. This is all the information I have about my Tuckers. I would appreciate information anyone might have about Southern Illinois Tuckers connected to these ancestors of mine. I will be out of town and away from a computer starting tomorrow until July 27. I will respond to any related posts at that time. Mine are > from Clark county, Indiana and before that Henry, Oldham County, Kentucky. > Before that I don't know. To answer your question as to where is a tough one. I have a ton more dead ends then known facts. What I do know is: John Henry Tucker (my dad) b. Nyack, NY 1/25/1908 d. Reading, PA 2/14/1969 Albert M. Tucker (g'father) b. NYC, NY ?/?/1881 d. Reading, PA 2/20/1962 Henry Tucker (gg'father) b. ???????????? d. ????????? J. J. Tucker (ggg'father) b. ???????????? d. ????????? All I know is that he was in Detroit, MI in 1858 (I have a book he signed from which that info originates, haven't a clue as to either of the Js) Not a lot, but it's what I've got to work with. Don't know of any way to tie your line with mine other than J. J. being in the mid-west. I have no idea of J. J.'s wife, how many children, or anything else that might work. And I have nothing at all on Henry ... a complete blank which is why I've sort of skipped to looking for J. J. John A. R. (Jack) Tucker jart@epix.net
