I do not give my permission to copy my materials. I may have to take my site off and stop putting info into it. Pat Shepherd.

    3. Mary, You are probably right about the duplication of names. I have found that this occurred in NC. Sometimes the "companies" of various poll takers overlapped and one poll taker may not have been aware that another poll taker had already enumerated a family. I am VERY interested in anything you might uncover on the Tuckers of White County, Tennessee. I'm sure that my Aaron must have been connected to them and I really would love to learn how. I know that Evan DAVIS signed Aaron's land transaction in Rowan County, NC in 1802. So, apparently he had a connection (even if it wasn't a direct family one) with the DAVIS family. Also, I believe George W. Tucker to be a part of the Tucker family that was in Rowan County, NC when Aaron was. How were they connected or WERE they connected? It seems likely. Thanks for ANYTHING tha you might uncover. Joan _________________________________________________________________ Chat with friends online, try MSN Messenger: http://messenger.msn.com

    3. From: Joan Flatt There were two Aaron Tuckers on the 1825 tax list in White County, TN. One of them was mine. Who was the other one?? Of course George W. was there then too and there was a Benjamin. I would love to know ANYTHING about these Tuckers. Hi Joan, I spent the day at the library and court house in White Co yesterday. I have several surnames in my line from that area since it's creation and I am very familiar with all the names in the area. Is the 1825 Tax List you are speaking of the 1-1-1826 Enumeration of all free white males over 21? If so, I believe there are several duplications of names in that list. Perhaps your Aaron was one and that's why you can't find info on the other one? Also listed in Capt. Phillip Malroy's Co. (probably Malloy) is a William C. Tucker, Benjamin Sapp (from Stokes Co NC), John Staples (who may be the father of Caswell Tucker's wife Lucinda), Thomas Eastland, Esau Tipton, and Cornelius Davis. These names pinpoints the area they lived in. The part of White Co that joins Cumberland Co near the Caney Fork river. Some of their descendants are listed in the first census in 1860 for Cumberland Co. Today this area is known as Eastland and is just across the river (a very small river) from where my Elijah G. Tucker lived. The same thing applies to the Co that Hughen F. Tucker is listed in along with the surnames Allison, Campbell, Davis, Elmore, Martin, Massey, Odel, Perkins, Wilson and Welch among others. Some of these are my own lines. Same thing applies to the names in the Co. George Tucker was listed in and the Aaron in Capt. Cook's Co... All the "White Co" Tuckers lived way east of Sparta on the Cumberland Mt. And guess what? All the Bledsoe Co Tuckers lived west of Pikeville on the Cumberland Mt. Same area. I've been working on pinpointing the exact area the William Tucker of Bledsoe and the William of White Co lived. More later, Mary

    3. Claudia, As I think I have told you before, there was an Edward Tucker in Rowan Co. NC at the same time as my Aaron and Andrew. There was also a Tobias Tucker there. I found an Edward born in Maryland in the 1850 census in TN (I don't remember the county offhand). His wife was named Tobitha. His birthdate was in the late 1700's. I don't know how these two Edwards connect or even if they DO connect. Just thought this would give you another avenue to check. Also, does anyone know anything about this TOBIAS TUCKER? I only found him on the one census. There was a TOBIAS who was in Maine on later census records. Is this the same Tobias. This isn't exactly a common given name in the Tucker clan. I also know that there was an Aaron Tucker who fought in the War of 1812. He was from Penobscot County, Maine. I have his pension application etc. I thought he might be my Aaron, since I knew that my Aaron had been called to serve in the War of 1812 from Rowan County. However, it wasn't my guy. This one was born 1790 mine in 1768. I have also wondered if this one is connected to mine. There were two Aaron Tuckers on the 1825 tax list in White County, TN. One of them was mine. Who was the other one?? Of course George W. was there then too and there was a Benjamin. I would love to know ANYTHING about these Tuckers.
