I am the decendent of "Clary" Tucker born 1782 and lived in Hardin Co, Ky. The family story was that her mother was killed by Indians. She was hidden under a fence and was spared. (I am not sure if it was her or a sibling) She was then raised by family poss grandparents. She moved to Callaway Co, MO. She was married to Jacob Baker February 22, 1805. Where I do not know. She died in 1844 in Callaway Co. Recently I have seen almost the same information in a posting that stated Clarinda Tucker was the daughter of Rev John Tucker who was killed by Indians in Adair Co, KY. Can anyone help me find the connection? Judy Hawman 3rd great granddaughter of Clary Tucker and Jacob Baker. And did you Carson TUCKER in Boone county have a daughter or sister named Martha or Mary Huff TUCKER? Mine married a Sandy C. / Frank DAVIS in 1849 un Boone County. I find all these TUCKER and cannot find one to claim mine. Thanks. .. The man who rows the boat seldom has time to rock it. Chris
Quite a few in my family are musical. Played in Bands, music teachers also. Band directors, but a lot of farmers in the older days. Some still garden. Fran
My father, Carson Tucker of Boone County, MO played the mouth harp, jews harp, danced, sang with me on summer nights when I was a child. We sang harmony, the whole family sang. He built most of my toys for Christmas during the depression out of cigar boxes: an old fashioned trunk, a kitchen cabinet. He carved miniature animals from peach seeds as a hobby. Very talented. Our yard was a flower garden, too. Reuben Reynolds married Lucia Aurora Tucker, 05 Aug 1843, (Source: Early Marriages, St. Clair County, MI, http://www.usgennet.org/usa/mi/county/stclair/mar/reynolds-robins.html ) Accoring to familysearch, Aurora TUCKER was born 8 May 1824 in Barnard Twp, Windsor, Vermont. Her father was Robert TUCKER. (Source: General Index to the Vital Records of Vermont, Vermont Secretary of State, microfiche 0027713) This evidently is my grandfather's aunt, Aurora Tucker, a daughter of Robert Tucker and Sarah Foster. Aurora's brothers included Stillman Tucker. (His picture is at http://www.ancientfaces.com/cgi-bin/photos/familyphotolist.cfm?surname=Tucke r&photos=yes) Do you have Aurora Tucker in your files or know where Lucia Aurora Tucker was born and who her parents were? I wonder if Lucia Aurora Tucker is the same as Aurora Tucker. Mark Bramlette Henderson, Nevada

Dear List, I just joined this list in hopes of finding anyone connected to my COX/TUCKER family, as follows: James W. Cox b. c1824 in Perry Twp, Brown County, Ohio m. Malinda Fox in May of 1845 in Brown County, Ohio. James' Will was filed on 13 September 1877 in New Salem, Pike County, Illinois; Malinda's Will was filed on 8 October 1895 in New Salem, Pike County, Illinois. Both Wills mention a daughter, Elizabeth, who (I believe) married Alexander Tucker on 25 March 1868 in Pike County, Illinois. They had one known son, James Tucker-birth date unknown. Elizabeth Cox Tucker was known to be living in New Salem, Illinois in 1899. I know this may be a stretch, but Malinda's Will mentions a picture that she left to Elizabeth Cox Tucker, and I would love to correspond with any of her family members to see if the picture still exists. Thank you for your help and consideration. Claudia Cox Strobel
I also have a War of 1812 Declaration of Soldier For Pension I sent for on the John Tucker who drew the land in Monroe Co. He was 80 years old in April 1871 when he applied. He married Mary Clay the 5th of May,1817 in JASPER CO. Ga. but was living in CHAMBERS CO. whenthe application was written. He was in Capt. John Reeds Co. and discharged 1814 near Darrien Ga. There is an Aaron Tucker who received a land lottery in 1838 in Georgia. This was in the 17th District. Does anyone have any idea where this would have been located? And, does anyone have any information on this Aaron Tucker. His listing number was #300 and also listed beside his name was "Stricklands" and "Merriwether". Were they neighbors perhaps or co-owners? This, I am told was a Cherokee Land Lottery. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Joan and others who are interested: There were several Ga. Land Lotteries according to a page I copied years ago from a book in the library. I'm pretty sure they have all been published in book form if you are near a large library. The page I copied said the 1821 land lottery was the 4th and opened the portion of Georgia between the Ocmulgee and Flint Rivers for settlement. This area was the counties of Fayette, Henry, Monroe, Houston and Dolly. The land extended from today's Roswell on the north to Ashburn on the south. The Creek Indians ceded this land to the U.S. in Jan. 1821. All persons who had drawn blanks in the previous lotteries were able to participate. The lots were 2021/2 acres and the lucky drawer could receive his grant for the $19 grant fee estab. by law. The book goes on to tell who was eligible which included widows of Rev. War, War of 1812 or Indian War soldiers and their children. There are no written applications on file----person had to give an oral oath to be eligible. I sent to Georgia Dept. of Archives and History and received maps showing where Sarah W. Tucker and Robert Tucker's orphans received land in Monroe Co., she was from Jones Co., John Tucker of JASPER CO. drew in Monroe also, and Robert tucker of Jasper drew in MOnroe. I was interested these Monroe drawings because that was where I found my William Tucker and he was there at that time but I've never been able to prove a connection. The maps show the lot and districts and I guess they're help- ful if you know the person but I was grasping at straws{still am}. That address at that time was : 330 Capitol Ave. SE, Atlanta, Ga.30334 Hope just some of this info will help but check on those books too , I think they had maps in them too. Good Luck! Dear Allison. I wrote to you but not sure you got it. Sometimes my carrier logs me off and the mail doesn't go. I am making three copies of my book. It is strictly Edward Sherron Tucker's line down to me and my GGrandchildren. If you will send me your address I will mail you a copy. I also found a complete decendency chart of all the sons' wives, daughters' husbands and their lines to the 5th generation I can include in my copy. Let me know how to get a copy to you. Hi Joan. The land lottery was indeed the land of the Cherokee's who were removed 1838 and sent on what is called the Trail of Tears. It is in North GA and parts of lower east TN and N.E. Ala. The lottery gave priority to those who served in the 1812 and other wars. So if you have a low number it may be that your ancestor had served in these wars. What was then left was given out to the next with slips drawn from the 2nd lottery. In some of the deeds or BLM records(no longer on line) they list the name of the tribal member who was disposessed .I have collected quite a few of these . Pat
Joan, Can you give me any information on these land lotteries? My Davis line is Cherokee and was in Georgia in the mid 1800's. I would love to search those records to see if I can find my line there. Please everyone who has ever had to or may have family that they will need info. on from the state of Kentucky call this line and let them pass the word own to the judiciary committee to vote no. We need to be able to get copies of birth and death info. on our families. How else can we prove that this person was in our line. This is our best resource and they want to do away with it because criminals are using for fraud. If they don't have this source they will find another. Don't let them handcuff us, we are not criminals. We deserve to be able to look at this records. I had to respond to this as it is such a funny thing for me. My grandparents are Charles Irving and Marguerite "Margaret" Amy Wallace Tucker. They had eight children (6 of which are still living) and although Charles died in 1999, Margaret is still living. They lived in Maryland their entire lives, and were born in 1911 & 1912 respectively. Isn't this too much of a coincidence!
