Wendell, I hope this might help some to forward your search. The first name Doctor is not because he was a doctor but because somewhere in his lineage is the surame Doctor from VA. They were in the Fredericksburg area near Travillion. The Tankersley's were also from there. And a road where this family originated is named Doctor road. I have 2 other surnames in that time period where the child was named Doctor. And also Hiram/Hirum which also is a surname. The practice of giving a child a first name which was the mothers maiden name or even one of the grandmothers was practiced during this time period. I would suggest looking at Virginia for the ancestors of these Tuckers. And from the age of your Doctor I would doubt he could have been one. This has confused many a researcher. Pat

My grandmother, Georgie Tucker, was born in 1899 in Mississippi, died in 1986 in California, married to Charles Campbell Rogers. Her father was Woodford or Wood Ford Tucker. I understand that the name Huff is associated with my grandmother, but I don't know how. My father told me, when he was alive, my grandmother was raised by another family for some reason, and there was something about Chicago in this story. I really am at a loss, for there isn't anyone left to ask anymore questions about this situation. Does any of this sound familiar to anyone? Thank you, Gail Pickett
I must have been half asleep when I posted my last inquiry. It does not even make sense to me and I wrote it. Sorry. Permit me to try again. There ate two Hiram Tuckers listed on the 1850 census of Lincoln County Tennessee. One is listed in the household of Allen Tucker as Doctor H., age 16. The other is listed as head of household, Hiram Tucker, age 29, with wife Elizabeth, age 26, and children William, age 4, and Edith, age 2. In my records I have these two Hiram Tuckers confused and listed as the same individual, which is obviously not correct. Does anyone have spouse and children information for the Doctor Hiram listed in the household of Allen Tucker, or parent information for the other Hiram Tucker listed with his separate family? Thanks -Wendell Tucker-

Does anyone have any information on Isabelle Tucker Blake? She was from England and immigrated to Iowa sometime in the mid to late 1800s. My family story is that she was an "English Lady" from Sommersetshire, England; married Thomas Blake, which was not under the blessing of her parents. Isabella and Thomas set sail for USA one week after the wedding. All I know so far is that my 102 year old Grandmother was Isabella's granddaughter, adopted when Isabella's daughter was in her 30's. So I am guessing that Isabella was born around 1850s give or take 10 years. The family lost the English estate (surrounded by stone fencing) when none of Isabella's son's would spend the $500 to take the boat over to England and claim the estate. So Isabella must have been an only child or the last living child. My grandmother would be so tickled if I could tell her any information. Any help would be appreciated. [email protected]
