    3. There were lots of what was called 1 and 2 man subs sunk off of Ship Island part of the gulf Shore of Mississippi Islands.  There is a fort on the Island that the Union captured and used for prisoners of war.  It was an old Spanish Fort.  Been there many times.  I like going home to Jackson County, Mississippi where I was born.  I love Harrison, Hancock in Mississippi. Mobile County in Alabama and of The parishes of New Orleans area.  I can close my eyes and see the beaches as they were before the Casino's.  Thank God for all the pictures I took before they were built.  The boat trips out to the Islands, The shrimp train ride that took us through Kessler and all those guys.  Sure enjoyed them when I was young and going back for visits.  When I was born.  Lights only a little on a car at night and all windows had to be covered when no light could come through.  The Shipyard towns were always on high alert.  Had a few Japaness Captives there at times.  The Naval Base took them away.  No cars were alowed on beach road at night unless military.  We had a car but walk about everywhere we went.  Chevron has one of there largest refineries there.  Got pictures of the cargo ships sitting out in the gulf where they hook up and pike in the Oil.  My dad worked for Ingalls Shipyard during the war.  He was on the A team and every 90 days they turned out a ship.  He often would work for 3 or 4 weeks without a day off.  We lived on Market Street 3 1/2 blocks from the Gulf.  The Navy had patrols in the waters for the shipyards.  That is what the japaness were wanting to try and blow up some.  We saw some brought into ingalls on the Pascagoula River.  Ingalls set on the river.  Part of the Plant on the East banks and part on the west banks.  If you want info on ship wrecks.  Pascagoula has a web site with and email on it and you can email and ask about them.  All the lighthouses on hwy +0 were painted black during the war.  There is a hugh one in the middle of 90 in Biloxi  There have been ships of long ago found off the coast of Jackson, Harrison, Hancock, Mobile and other counties on the gulf coast for all the states.  One just recently found off the coast of Louisiana that is over 200 years old.  It is in great condistion and the historians are all excited about the good condition the ship is  in.
