She was born June 5, 1925, in Armathwaite, Tenn., a daughter of the late William A. and Anna D. Tompkins Scales. She was raised in Tennessee and was a graduate<http://www.thecouriertimes.com/main.asp?SectionID=9&SubSectionID=24&ArticleID=266795&TM=62030.79#> of the Alvin C. York Institute in Jamestown, Tenn. After her graduation Mrs. Cable moved to New Castle, where she lived the remainder of her life. She was an active member of the Southside Church of the Nazarene, where she was active in several areas of ministry. She was retired from Perfect Circle, a division of Dana Corp., in 1986 after thirty years of service. She was a member of U.A.W. Union. She enjoyed bowling and had participated in several bowling leagues. She also loved traveling, and had visited every state in the United States. Mrs. Cable served God as a member of several mission teams, traveling to numerous countries in South America. Mrs. Cable was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Left to cherish her memory include her five children, twin sons, Rod (wife Paulette) Cable of Crown Point, Ind., Randall (wife Suzanna) Cable of Indianapolis, Luana (husband Eldon) Pitts of Mooreland, Bruce (wife Janet) Cable of New Castle, Karen (husband David) Gregory of New Castle; 11 grandchildren, Nicole (husband Jason) Hume, MaryBeth (husband Justin) Guyer, Danielle (husband Mike) LaMere, Tricia (husband Jim) Fortin, Barrett (wife Caroline) Cable, Bryan (wife Holly) Pitts, Valerie (husband Mike) Boggs, Brandy Cable (friend Jason Stephens), John Cable, Janna Cable, Scott Gregory; also 14 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, and cousins; sister Clara Eggleston of Middletown, Ohio; and brother-in-law Duane (wife Pat) Cable of Mishawaka, Ind. She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Earl L. Cable, three brothers and two sisters. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 22, at Macer-Hall Funeral Home and also one hour before services on Sunday at the church. Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 23, at Southside Church of the Nazarene, 2805 S. 14th St., New Castle, with Rev. Michael Dees officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hills Memory Garden.
