Hello All, Colfax County, Nebraska is now up and running... at least the first few pages! http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~necoltp/index1.html All feedback welcome... have a great night! -- *Jen* *Will you help me fight to end breast cancer forever? Ask me how to make a donation to any of the major, national organizations raising money to find a cure. Support me as I walk, snowshoe, snowboard, and anything else I can do to end this. I want my daughter to read about it in a history book - not in her medical chart. *
It looks real clean and eye catching. However, you have a typo -- last line on the home page -- former Vice President -- you have fromer Vice President. Fat Fingers strikes again, I am sure! A few words of what I intend as constructive criticism... I have have a relatively large screen with a high resolution, but I always have my browser sized down to 1/2 the width, so that I can have other windows on the other half. With this size, the only thing I see when I open the site is "Colfa". Everything else is off the screen. In the web design world, the phrase "out of sight, out of mind" often applies. It's comparable to a newspaper -- editors try to maximize the impact of what's above the fold on the front page. If the only thing there were the newspaper title, it would lose attention of passers by. If a visitor doesn't see something that interests them when they first open a site, they're less likely to stay and get something out of it. Here I have to scroll down for what seems like forever, and scroll to the right, to get to the actual content links. Some people who come may not get this far. Keep in mind your audience, and how you can make it easier and more informative for them. Hope this helps. We need to remember that not everyone has huge high resolution monitors. There are still some out there with old CRT monitors. Also think about people that use laptops and netbooks. I have a little Ausus netbook that I absolutely love but it only has a 9 inch screen. The resolution is extremely high for its size but ...............
