Julie was born in Floyd County, Ky., on August 16, 1924, the daughter of Lawrence and Allie Fair (Gayheart) Dye. She and her husband, Colbert moved to the Ashtabula area in 1954, and remained lifelong area residents. Julie collected dolls and bells and enjoyed showing them to her family and friends who came to visit. She always looked forward to having her family come to her home at Christmas; she enjoyed cooking a large dinnerĀ for all to share. Julie held her family close in her heart; there was never a time when she was not thinking of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She never tired of talking to them, listening to their latest adventures or cooking their favorite foods. A woman of great strength, she will be missed for her wisdom and courage, her independence and joy of life, telling stories of her childhood while growing up in Floyd County and her willingness to persevere no matter where that journey would take her. She is survived by her children, Vadney Tackett and Ray (Barb) Caudill, both of Ashtabula and Patricia (John) Horne and Darlene (David) Ginn, both of Florida and Claude (Lori) Caudill of North Carolina; 19 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; brother, Kelley Dye of Kentucky; and many nieces and nephews who will miss her dearly. She was preceded in death by her husband of twenty-five years, Colbert Cecil Caudill in 1973; sons, Terry, Lannie and Bruce Caudill; granddaughter, Michelle Humphrey; grandson, Brian Caudill; brothers, Woodrow, Bill, Jack, Hayes and Kennel Dye; sister, Emma Moore; two siblings in infancy; and her parents. Funeral Services will be held 11 a.m., Monday, Oct. 17th, at DUCRO FUNERAL SERVICES AND CREMATORY, 4524 Elm Ave., Ashtabula, with the Rev. Kenneth Roberts, Pastor of Pentecostal Church of God, officiating. Burial will be in Saybrook Cemetery with her husband. Calling Hours will be from 2 to 4 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 16th, at the Funeral Home. If desired, contributions may be made to the family. Obituary at www.ducro.com and starbeacon.com.
