    1. [TTTP] Waldo Canyon Fire Update
    2. Colleen
    3. At 11:45 today, Woodland Park in Teller County went under mandatory evacuationand just a few minutes two more Colorado Springs communities are now under pre-evacuation - Pleasant Valley, Holland Park, Fillmore to Garden of the Gods and the west side of Monument. Green Mountain Falls is burning. Crystola on both sides of El Past/Teller County line are evacuating. 32,500 people are now displaced 15,324 acres have burned 1,000 firefighters are on scene from across the country Hwy 24 is completely closed and not scheduled to open anytime soon. Those stats as of 8:00 a.m. this a.m. The next update won't occur until 8:00 p.m. tonight. Last night he area looked like a war zone....so, so much damage. Just and FYI: praying for a good rain to douse the fire will end up with flash flooding. Colleen

    3. My friend in Nathrop who also has a summer place there where we do. g I want to apologize to everyone for being such a drama queen. I was so tired after the hot drive from Nathrop to the Springs. Took 3 hours because Hwy. 24 is closed. When I arrived my son had already taken his family to Castle Rock to his mother in laws place. They were having problems with their asthma. He then came back to the Springs and helped me pack . I made it to my mother's at 2AM and of course didn't sleep until 5AM. My son and I parked on the side of the road and watched homes burn. One of our favorite places "Flying W Ranch" burned down as did our church that was built by the owners of the Ranch. An apartment my son lived in when his first baby was born also burned. It is just unbelievable. I am thankful no one has been hurt. Again, I apologize for coming off like it was all about me because I sure didn't mean to. I was just in shock. ~Nancy~in Denver. --

    3. More than 20,000 homes and over 1,600 businesses are threatened by the fire. Kissing Camels subdivision is not under evacuation. If the fire keeps going the way it is (south) Old Colorado City will be threatened. 6,200 acres have burned so far. Unfortunately, now part of it is in the city. c

    3. Thanks, that is neat... the fire in Leadville is north of town above the old Prospector Restaurant and the motel that is out there up above Highway 91, no wonder they stopped the train from running.. g On Tue, Jun 26, 2012 at 10:07 PM, W David Samuelsen <dsam52@sampubco.com>wrote: > http://www.geomac.gov/index.shtml > > Click on GeoMac/Viewer > > Go right side, to "Jump to Wildfire", scroll down to specific fire. > > Select it > > then on left side, click on Active Fires, there are 3 choices you can use. > > David Samuelsen > > ------------------------------- > To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to > TTTP-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes > in the subject and the body of the message > --

    3. There doesn't seem to be much concern over the Leadville fire or the Birdseye Gulch fire. It is up W 7th on the way to Mosquito Pass and there is nothing up there. If it burns to the north it will hit the mine and if it burns to the south it will just burn cause there is nothing there but old mines. And, it is burning at timberline. Won't do any damage until it reaches Empire Gulch which is south of Leadville. If it comes down the mt. then there is an area of concern but it is still at 320 acres and didn't increase today. I have one son who works for Road and Bridge in Leadville so he will keep me informed on his safety and have another son and grandson living south of Leadville and they will keep me informed of any problems. Stay cool.... cause it ain't cool here............ g On Tue, Jun 26, 2012 at 9:37 PM, W David Samuelsen <dsam52@sampubco.com>wrote: > I just checked news - embers landed at Glen Eyrie Reservoir, just east > of Hill Circle, east of N 30th St. > > DAvid > > On 6/26/2012 8:35 PM, Colleen wrote: > > The West side of Colorado Springs is on fire -- west of I25. 3. 32,000 people have been evacuated. All of the Air Force Academy is being evacuated. Over 800 firefighters are fighting this fire. The view on the TV, a panoramic one -- fire across the screen. It's unbelievable... smoke, heavy heavy black smoke. The 5% containment of yesterday was blown to hell when this afternoon's winds came out of the west at 65 mph and exploded the fire. Now the prediction of containment is mid-July. This afternoon pre-evacuation alerts were just south of Woodland Park and headed west before Divide. Even the news anchors are at a loss for words. Evacuation area: Cedar Heights, Mountain Shadows, Peregrine, Rockrimmon, Woodmen Valley, Pinon Valley and Pine Cliff --- basically the area east of Centennial, north of Garden of the Gods and west of I-25. 25 fire companies are staged to fight this fire, including Fort Carson's and AFA's. More information to come as I learn it. Please say a prayer for this city, the firefighters and those evacuated. c

    3. I've been watching the Leadville fire too, Jen. My son is up in Cripple Creek and the primary route to leave has been shut down. I did a Google search to map a route for him to Canyon City. So Jean, while you're watching the Leadville fire, will you please also keep an eye on Cripple Creek? I'd sure appreciate it. c On 6/26/2012 8:37 PM, Jen Baldwin wrote: > Prayers out to you, C. 3. The West side of Colorado Springs is on fire -- west of I25. The Air Force Academy has been evacuated. Many homes in the Mountain Shadows housing area are burning -- many of them. Flying W Ranch is gone. Southbound I-25 is closed at Interquest Parkway. Highway 24 has been closed since Friday from Manitou to Woodland. We're about 30 miles south of the fire, so we're safe, but the smoke is HEAVY. This is so, so devastating.... To see some of the pictures or view footage, go to koaa.com, kktv.com, krdo.com, gazette.com . Denver has a news team down here but I don't know the call letters. Colorado Springs is on fire...
