Jeanne, You did not send who the submitter was. I want to add the subs namea to the records. Did you transcribe them? The Mass records had a sub name. I made sure they were listed from her when I put them up. I have uploaded the centenarian info that is finished. I do not have the time to go back thru the 390+ on Lake to find the ones that pertain to your areas. I have posted a couple so you could see the type of info Glorianne has amassed. You are welcome to use the information. I posted her permission to the Chat list For those of you not on that list, I will be happy to share it with you as well. Again, please give Glorianne Fahs credit for her work is all that is asked. It is pretty easy to pick out the states, etc. It seems that those who are listed came from some other state. If any of you find obits that mention Florida I would appreciate your sharing them with me. _http://www.fl-genweb.net/archives/centenarians/_ (http://www.fl-genweb.net/archives/centenarians/) will allow you to see what has been done already. Some of the cents info applies to more than one county and those have been linked to the appropriate place. Today I made a post to AncestorHunters giving a pretty much home bound person our 2 projects to check on info. I hope the email helps us both. Being a member of their group allows me to take advantage of their group subscriptions to Ancestry, Footnote, and several other pay sites. If you are interested in more info email me. Anyone else have a "Lost and Found" page? I just had someone send me a couple pictures they found in New Mexico that were taken in Guthrie, Logan County, Oklahoma Territory. He had no idea who they were. Just found them in a little shop near Santa Fe. I made a "Lost and Found" page for them. Just have to see what happens. Maybe some day someone will claim them as theirs. -- "Democracy is two wolves and a lamb deciding what to have for dinner. Billie, I was going to add a lost and found page but just haven't gotten there yet. That was part of the reason why we put up the photo project was to at least put old photographs on it so that they might make their way into the right hands or at least they can be retrieved. g On Sat, Aug 27, 2011 at 12:36 PM, Billie Walsh <[email protected]> wrote: > Anyone else have a "Lost and Found" page? > > I just had someone send me a couple pictures they found in New Mexico > that were taken in Guthrie, Logan County, Oklahoma Territory. I always try to keep in mind what's the most helpful for people researching -- so at a minimum, keep the information online somewhere. If completely offline, that doesn't help anyone. :) So a few options -- (1) leave online where it is, link to it, and maybe it'll come back to life down the road. (2) divide it up and post to individual state or county sites... though this is a little less convenient, as there's not a central place to search. (Unless a search engine were setup to cover all of the sites, mentioned in a previous email) (3) resubmit to find-a-grave.com, for ones not already online there. I'd vote for (3) as I'm always there doing searches, but other options have advantages too. Gerry has volunteered to take on the project. If I can get the passwords is the next question. Thank you Gerry. Also, please note that in order to submit photos, I believe the submitter has to be given a password so there is more to that project than just adding photos. I also understand that none of the ftp passwords to the Trails server are working. I sat for over 25 minutes last night with the server people for them to tell me that "port 21" is not working. Well, Jim your port 21 is not working, mine isn't and Colleen's isn't... back to the drawing board as I still do not have any answers. g On Thu, Aug 25, 2011 at 2:29 PM, Ray Gurganus <[email protected]> wrote: > I always try to keep in mind what's the most helpful for people researching > -- so at a minimum, keep the information online somewhere. It really is a good worthwhile project, but, at this point in time, I think we would be better off to have all those photos on the individual sites. Maybe in time as the project grows and we have more help, we can expand on that project. I think that they should for now be on the indiviual sites and later incorp them into the big pictures Jeannie From: Jeanne Hicks <[email protected]> To: [email protected] Sent: Thursday, August 25, 2011 8:32 AM Subject: Re: [TTTP] Gravestone Photo Project - TRAILS Daryl's passing has left a large gap to fill. My thoughts are that, while this is something that I think would be a great benefit to the project in getting submissions, perhaps we should set it aside (note, delink, not remove) until someone has the time/energy/etc to be able to work it themselves. We are really spread to thin for this project at this time. However, that being said, can we have it so that people could still submit photos (just not uploaded/etc) and have an email generated that would send the photo to the appropriate state or county administrator? This is my thinking: people are really wanting to share their information. However, many of the coordinators in "other" projects don't want the submissions, although they say otherwise, they don't put the information on the sites. Once submitters get a foot in the door with a project they will probably submit other data if they see it is welcomed. I hope I am making as much sense as I want to be... I think that setting it aside and not scrapping it is the better way to go until we have someone who can just devote themselves only to that project. But I don't want to lose any submissions we already have.
