A very hearty welcome to each of you! :-) I hope you'll find us to be a most-enjoyable part of your day. We're more like a family here, rather than just a project of volunteers. My pet project here is Alaska and I'm always looking for new material. So, if you have any stored in the shoe boxes under your bed or binders stuck in the bottom of the box in the cellar, I'll be here! <g> I'm Gail's right arm and when she isn't available, I am. I have only a bazillion messages a day drop into my inbox, but if you ever need me for something, please be sure to put my name in the subject line in CAPITAL LETTERS (as I did for you in this message) so your email will capture my attention. Messages with my name glaring at me are the ones I read first. I'm also the District Administrator for the Northwest District, and am temporarily the DA for the Northeast District, as well. I also temporarily cover Michigan as the State Administrator. If any of you have strong HTML knowledge, lots of time, and wish to take over the Northeast District, I'll be happy to surrender the same if Gail approves. If you have taken on to manage a state, please be sure to let me know once you have it online. I addition to the above, I'm also webmistress for the project. I'd also like to add that I'm happy to help you in any way I can - as are ALL the members here. We're a very friendly group, as you'll soon find out. Once again, we're very glad to have you all onboard Trails. I want to welcome the new members too! Very good to have them all join us! Just in case, Indiana has lots of counties open....(just in case). I have been working on military. Seems like the more I do the more I find to do. Hope to get it all up before the holidays. I close my eyes and see code and medals and flags and names and names and names.....LOL -- Sheri FamilyTwigs <http://freepages.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~familytwigs/> TwigTalk <http://familytwigs.blogspot.com/> Indiana Trails To The Past <http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/%7Eintttp/> SA Jackson County <http://www.rootsweb.com/%7Einjacktp/>Trails To The Past

Now, to try this again.... I think that I am still the contact on the starter pages for the Illinois counties, and that is why I received this. I am forwarding this on so that those in Iowa and Illinois may use this as they see fit. Here is the transcription of the obit (an attachment now removed): Joseph Newcomer Joseph Newcomer received a letter from Rev Michael Sisler of Dallas Centre, Iowa, announcing the death and burial of his wife, who died on Friday, December 8, 1893 and was buried Sunday in Dallas Centre cemetery. She was born in Sharpsburg, Washington County, Maryland September 15, 1893. Age, sixty years two months and twenty-three days. Miss Barbara Ann Newcomer was married to Michael Sisler, Washington County, Maryland, May 9, 1847 -- forty-six years ago. The next year they came to this township and resided here for about two years. She was a member of the Dunkard church, her husband being a minister of the Dunkard church. She leaves two brothers and one sister. Joseph Newcomer of Adaline and Daniel Newcomer of this township and Mrs Ruan Miller who resided at Franklin Grove; Lee County, Ill. ***Please note that the birth year and death year are the same on the obituary attached*** Jmh I see that it didn't send the copied image so I am attaching it to this email. Gail, Sorry about that, this is the message I recv'd, the sender didn't give a name, just this information re: John M Ellis in Hillside Cemetery, Saguache, CO in Saguache County " John M. Ellis was my paternal great-grandfather. I have supplied his full date of death (approx. 24 Apr 1926). The middle name is incorrect and I have seen it spelled that way on many documents. His correct name is John MAURICE "MOCK" Ellis." I posted the photo, so I guess they thought I could change the information.
