    1. Rowland Tryon? How many kids did he have?

    3. Could the Samuel Tryon traveling with Rowland in Berrien Co. be a cousin? or a children that came to MI after the rest of the family? In the "History of Berrien and Van Buren Co. MI" written by D.W. Ellis in 1880, p. 305, it states that the "entire family consisting of father, mother, and 5 children". Later in the same paragraph, it mentions William and John as his sons, so I assume that the other 3 children are dau. There is a write-up on William H. Tryon, son of Rowland, in the same book, on a glossy page, facing p. 308. It talks about William, his father Rowland and his brother John. 1840 census confirms 3 dau and 2 son with the family. 1860 land records confirm a W.H Tryon, a J. Tryon and an S. Tryon. The S. Tryon is 4 sections away from the rest of the family. (W.H. and J are in section 29 and 30 - Sec 29 is mentioned in the write-up on Rowland - is the original homestead- while S. Tryon is on section 33). Rowland, William, John and Samuel all entered land in the Kalamazoo land office, although Samuel's entry is considerably later, in 1856. A Levi Tryon also entered land there, and is possibly the one is early Barry Co. records. I'm attaching the early Tryon land records from the State land office. Vicki Do we have a marraige date for Rowland? Since he was only 20 when Samuel was born, and with the article only listing 5 children for him, I suspect he is a nephew of Rowland, possibly raised by him. 1820 and 30 census is the one that gives me this opinion. 1820 - two children 26-45 and one head of house over 45 (Rowland is only 30) 121121 10101 1830 - Rowland is the probably one age 40-50 (just turned 40), but who is the one age 20-30? I assume it is Samuel. He was b. c 1810 and was in MI to marry in 1841. 0110101 110101 I have copies of the articles, if you would like, or I could type them in, given time, and you could attach them to the web site.
