    3. I caught the Maine too, and since Simeon already had 21, I just ascribe him one more. I think he might have had the patience of a saint, but I know my 2 get on my nerves sometimes...... 21? I have found that some people in the census gave where they grew up as their parents birth place, even though it didn't make sense. An Example: Charles Cohoon Jr of Gratiot Co. MI consistently gave his father's birthplace as MI, even though his father was born in 1795, again way too early for MI settlement. - Vicki Hall Titus Home page url: http://www.ipa.net/~vtitus/ Co-ordinator of Broome Co. (Is there a catch? <groan>) in fact, there is a nice gap in | the progression | of Simeon's children, between Aphia (6 Oct 1815) and Samuel Lewis (b. 21 | Mar 1819), | and the census information indicates Henry B was born ca. 1817/18. The | Maine birthplace | caught me too, and I am inclined to take it seriously. A birth in | Michigan that early | would indicate a very early renoval to that Territory by the parents and | I don't | know of any such. (Although those guys were known to wander). And | looking further at | Simeon's kids, I do not see any daughter born 1821 and 1840 who could be | called Adelia or | anything like it. | | | | Dan |
