If the Henry Tryon who married Ann Service on 22 Oct 1840 in Montgomery County, New York, is not the same Henry Tryon who married Ellen Servoss 15 Oct 1840, then we certainly have a strange coincidence. However, I cannot explain how Ellen became Ann. My information on Henry Tryon and Ellen Servoss came from a Harris Family History compiled in 1934. It included the birth and death dates of Ellen Servoss and Susan Louisa Tryon. It also included the names of all 6 Tryon children with their spouses. Therefore I must conclude that the family found in the 1850 census of Wyoming Co, NY, is this family. I cannot explain why Susan Louisa is not included on the census, unless she was actually born in 1850. Watson's birth year could have been an error. I have seen people change birth years quite often from one census to the next. I would be very interested to know more about the family found in the 1860 census in Chatauqua County. I have not actively researched this family as yet, but have picked up additional information while researching other families. The Tryon family moved to Iowa after 1853 when Ira was born and before 1880. Evidence of most of the family appears in Allamakee & Fayette Counties of Iowa by 1880. Earliest date showing any of the family in Iowa is 1866 when Addie Tryon was born to Erastus Tryon and Louisa Sweet in Allamakee County (Source: 1885 census). The 1880 census index book shows Ellen Tryon, 64, living in Allamakee County, Iowa. Her husband is not listed indicating he died before 1880. NY The 1870 census of Fayette County, Putnam Twp, Iowa , has this Tryon family listed: William 44 Samantha 44 John 21 Emma 19 Hellen 18 All were born in Penn; I do not know if they are related to the Henry Tryon family, but perhaps someone out there recognizes them.
