    1. Tryon/Wood connection

    3. Found another Tryon/Wood connection that might help explain the connection of Philitus Wood to Adelia (Tryon) Chaffee's family. In another Van Buren Co. marraige, Mrs. S. Tryone (Sally Tryon, wife of William??) and Mrs. Irene Lamson (or Lammon - her dau) were witnesses to the marraige of Uriah Wood and Emma Bowles, both of Lawrence TWP. The marraige took place Sep 23, 1865 and is recorded in Book A, page 614. According to the 1860 census, Irene was born in Nova Scotia, and my research seems to indicate that the William and Sally Tryon who settled in Van Buren Co. MI were from Mass and were not on the 1850 census, unless I missed them. Here is what I have from the 1860 and 70 census. 1860 census information Benjamin Lawrence TWP age 34 NY - also in Lawrence: Sally 79 Ma, William 83 Ma with J.E. Lammon - I.E. Lammon (Irenie?) 52 New Brunswick 1870 census info Sally Tryon age 89 Mass with dau Irena Lammon age 61 b.New Bruns. Although the census had no place to note relationships, the words "mother to Irena" are written in the text. William Tryon is buried in Old Lawrence Cemetery = grave marker says 1777-1862. This is before death records kick in for Michigan. However, he is on a list of War of 1812 veteran's who died in MI I found. Sally must have left the area or remarried, because I didn't find her death cert in Van Buren Co. I did find Irena's. She died Oct 21,1887 of extreme old age - no parents listed. This is quite possibly the William who was born to William and Catherine Codner, who is listed on the 1800 census of Hampshire Co. Mass as William Jr. Both seem to be in Jefferson Co. NY in 1820. Has anybody found a connection between Woods and this line of the family? Vicki
