    1. William Augustus Tryon of NY and MI.
    2. Vicki Titus
    3. I have another orphan'ed Tryon to toss out for identification/discussion. I suspect that he may be connected to the same branch of the Tryon family that William of Hillsdale Co, MI and Ezra of Ionia Co. MI is, but I have no proof, except that William (of Hillsdale) and Ezra are linked as brothers by some researchers and William Augustus spent time in Ionia Co. MI. William Augustus Tryon first appears in my records in 1838, when he served as a notary Public and witness to a deed of Calvin Woodward to Samuel Dexter in Ronald, MI. The deed appears in Ionia Co. Deeds. He is probably the William Tryon listed in Ionia Co. MI in 1840 (some indexes list his middle init. as H). William A.(or H) Ionia Ionia p116 0021101,1000011 2 orphan Tryon's show up on the 1850 census of Ionia Co. I'm thinking that William A. brought them there, along with the William of Hillsdale Co. William. By 1850, he had removed to Kent Co, MI, where is listed in the 1850 census as W.A. W.A. Kent Walker 206 age 51 NY farmer w/sp Minerva 51 NY County histories state he was born 1799 in New Lebanon, NY. Could also be connected to John Tryon who was a Judge there in 1806? Supposedly arrived MI in 1836. Ionia Co. MI was the site of one of the early land offices and William A and Minerva bought several tracts of land thru it, all in 1841. I suspect that that is when they moved to Kent Co. MI. My Lyman Chaffee's father, was listed in the 1850 census of Gaines, and Lyman's and Adelia's sons were also living there in the 1860's. However, Walker and Gaines are several TWP's away from each other. Gaines is on the S. border of Kent, right above Allegan CO. and Walker is sandwiched between Grand Rapids and the Ottawa Co. Border. I also suspect that he is the William A Tryon on the 1830 census of Troy, NY: William A. Tryan 1830 NY Rensselaer Troy 2nd Ward p023 2100001 000031 Note the number of older women in the household; could William have raised his brother's children? Vicki
