    3. Welcome Home, Dan Let's see if we can't get you settled in here. (Comments in [] braces are mine) You wrote: > Hi All, > > I'm trying to link my 3rd great-grandfather, CALEB TRYON to a LUCAS > TRYON born 1794 in CONNETICUT, USA. We have Lucas back to William of Bibury, Gloucs, Eng and Wethersfield, CT. > I found that they were living on the same piece of land in the 1851 CENSUS > for NORTH CROSBY TOWNSHIP. Ray Tryon from Utica gave me the 1851 and 61 census data from Crosby N. and, he only indicates Caleb and Catherine [FRYE]'s family in the '51 and Caleb and Mariah [MOORE]'s family in the '61 census. Nowhere does he mention Lucas being in either census. I am waiting for word from a friend on Lucas from the 1848 census of Crosby N. He does indicate that Lucas lived on lot 14, concession 9 in Crosby N. which he bought from Basil R Church for L50 on 27 Apr 1837. He bought more in Feb. 1869 then sold it all to George Noah later that year. He describes further land transactions after 1915 by George Noah. Lucas shows up again in the 1881 census, aged 87, with his wife, Rachel living in the same household as Caleb, Mariah and family. A World Family Tree (Broderbund) database #2364 has Lucas descended from William with wife Rachel Mallory and 10 children all born in Canada. The eldest Elizabeth is b. 29 Jan 1817 in Leeds; no 4 is Calib b. abt 1823. I have to go on line to find out who owns this chart to be able to confirm sources. > I also found a > JUSTUS TRYON b. 1821; son of Lucas, aboveb. 1831; in Bedford Twp, Frontenac Co. 1861 and 1871 census, conc. 13, lot 12 > PETER TRYON, father unknown b. 1799; in Portland Twp, Frontenac Co., 1851 and 1861 census, conc. 7, lot 18b. 1823; in Prince Edward Co., 1861 census b. bef 1810; 2nd Regt Addington Militia > TOBIAS TRYON b. 1821; of Olden Twp, Frontenac Co., 1871 census, conc. 11, lot 8b. 1821; of Portland Twp, Frontenac Co., 1851, 61 and 71 census, conc. 2, lot 54 The above 2 men have the same dependents. > DAVID TRYON, b. 1811; of Cramahe, Northumberland Co, west of Trenton Have not reached there yet; may be associated with William, b. 1808 who lived in neighbouring twp, Brighton, at time of 1851 census. > Does anyone have an idea on whether CALEB and LUCAS were father and son? Above. > My 2nd great-grandfather was a GEORGE ADAM TRYON son of CALEB TRYON born > in KINGSTON, ONTARIO. When and where was George Adam born? We have no record from any of the four people who have contributed and researched Caleb's family of any George Adam. In fact, George Noah was only shown in 1851 census as George N and afterwards as George. His son, George Frederick was always called Fred[erick 1881 cs]. > GEORGE ADAM TRYON married MARGARET SUSAN FAULKNER of > UXBRIDGE, ONT. in 1867(does anyone know the marriage date or have a > record). Bill MacDonald in Edmonton is in the process of searching through LDS films for Ontario births and marriages. I imagine when he reads this, he'll have something to say. I was just commenting to him today that the Simcoe area seems to be a hub of S>N and E>W Tryon migrations. > GEORGE and MARGARET had a son, their oldest child, by the name of > GEORGE HENRY TRYON who had a picture taken with his wife and a child in > TOLEDO, OHIO. > > Does anyone in OHIO know why he was in that state ? We just heard from another descendant in OH, Russell Bolin and his wife, Jane, who is a descendant of Sager TRYON from Priceville up in Grey Co. But Sager is from Lanark and we're working on that one, too. There are some George XXXs there, too. Give us the details, we'll publish them. Dan Brevik is getting ready to publish on the Web. Have a look at what's already done: http://www.tryon-union.com/ . Dan covers home plate; Pam is in deep centre on the QC/NY/VT border; Vicki's down around 3rd base but keeps stumbling into OH, IN with a long reach into NY and CT. I've got the northern bleachers with Anne and Bill and my brother Ken in the far west; Ray is subing in ON from Utica. We talk Word and WordPerfect and HTML and we run between us TMG Win, TMG Dos, BK5, FTW3.4 & 4, PAF 2.31 and 3.0 and maybe others I haven't heard of. We accept just about anyones version of GEDCOM and have a preference for WINZip 6.2 but can accept 6.3 beta 4. Let us know what you're about and we can probably swap some data on-line. No limit for some of us on file size but better check with individuals and no attachments on the TRYON-List. I have a descendancy chart of most of the Ontario pass-through Tryons which I can send along anytime. It's saved in ASCII so any text editor will open it.
