This is taken from GEORGE ADAM TRYON's Ontario Archives death certificate as reported by his oldest child GEORGE HENRY TRYON at GEORGE ADAM's DEATH; Surname TRYON Christian Name GEORGE ADAM Sex Male Age 77 Years 6 mons 26 d Date of death Sept. 22, 1919 Place of Birth Kingston, Ont. Place of Death Shawanaga Tp. Place of Burial Parry Sound, Ont. Occupation Labourer (Lumberjack) Marital status Married Name of Father Caleb Tryon Maiden Name of Mother Don't Know Name of informant George Henry Tryon Address Parry Sound Date of Return Sept. 23, 1919 Physician's Return of Death Surname Tryon Christian Name George Adam Date of death Sept. 22, 1919 Cause of death Cardiac disease From the above info I have GEORGE ADAM born FEBRUARY 24, 1842 in KINGSTON. I have the 51 census in front of me for North Crosby Tp. And there is no initial after the name George but the age says 8 years which the age would be correct. The Calib you said that was born to LUCAS TRYON in 1823 is most likely to be my 3rd great-grandfather CALEB father of GEORGE ADAM. In the 51 census CALEB was 38 which would be b. 1813. But in the 71 census CALEB is 48 which means he's b. 1823. GEORGE ADAM TRYON & MARGARET SUSAN FAULKNER's children: 1. GEORGE HENRY TRYON born 11 JAN 1868 UXBRIDGE, ONT. 2. CATHERINE ANNE TRYON (CASSIE) born 4 JAN 1870 UXBRIDGE, ONT. 3. WILLY J. TRYON born 22 MAY 1872 UXBRIDGE, ONT. 4. ALBERT TRYON born 22 JUNE 1874 UXBRIDGE, ONT. 5. LUCINDA TRYON and JAMES GRIFFIN married in UFFINGTON, ONT. (DRAPER TWP.) on 19 MAR 1903.( My Great-grandparents). GEORGE ADAM had a brother by the name of WILLIAM JOHN TRYON born in NORTH CROSBY TWP. LEEDS COUNTY on 7 Sept 1854 who married my 2nd great-aunt SARAH ANN GRIFFIN on 16 OCT 1878 in LAXTON TWP. VICTORIA COUNTY. Do either of you have the children and birthdates of LUCAS' and CALEB's children, please post for me to pickup? Do you also have marriage date of LUCAS to RACHEL MALLORY and CALEB to CATHERINE FRYE and CALEB to MARIAH MOORE? Do either of you know how to use ONTARIO ARCHIVES LAND RECORDS as I have found land records for CALEB, JUSTUS, TOBIAS, POLLY, ANN, ANNE, GEORGE S (probably SIDNEY), JNO and WILLIAM. I am going to ONTARIO ARCHIVES on OCT 4,1997 to do more TRYON research and GRIFFIN also. I would like to pull these LAND PETITIONS. Till Later, DAN WJ GRIFFIN

Just a further little note to Dan. Most of this data has just come nack with me from researching in OGS Kingston Br in Kingston Public Library and from Ray on visit. I am still in the process of posting it, so it may take me awhile to locate something until I complete it. Ray Tryon from Utica gave me the 1851 and 61 census data from Crosby N. and, he only indicates Caleb and Catherine [FRYE]'s family in the '51 and Caleb and Mariah [MOORE]'s family in the '61 census. Nowhere does he mention Lucas being in either census. I am waiting for word from a friend on Lucas from the 1848 census of Crosby N. He does indicate that Lucas lived on lot 14, concession 9 in Crosby N. which he bought from Basil R Church for L50 on 27 Apr 1837. He bought more in Feb. 1869 then sold it all to George Noah later that year. He describes further land transactions after 1915 by George Noah. Lucas shows up again in the 1881 census, aged 87, with his wife, Rachel living in the same household as Caleb, Mariah and family. A World Family Tree (Broderbund) database #2364 has Lucas descended from William with wife Rachel Mallory and 10 children all born in Canada. The eldest Elizabeth is b. 29 Jan 1817 in Leeds; no 4 is Calib b. abt 1823. 3. Hi All, I'm trying to link my 3rd great-grandfather, CALEB TRYON to a LUCAS TRYON born 1794 in CONNETICUT, USA. I found that they were living on the same piece of land in the 1851 CENSUS for NORTH CROSBY TOWNSHIP. I also found a JUSTUS TRYON, PETER TRYON, TOBIAS TRYON, and DAVID TRYON in the 1871 CENSUS. Does anyone have an idea on whether CALEB and LUCAS were father and son? My 2nd great-grandfather was a GEORGE ADAM TRYON son of CALEB TRYON born in KINGSTON, ONTARIO. GEORGE ADAM TRYON married MARGARET SUSAN FAULKNER of UXBRIDGE, ONT. in 1867(does anyone know the marriage date or have a record). GEORGE and MARGARET had a son, their oldest child, by the name of GEORGE HENRY TRYON who had a picture taken with his wife and a child in TOLEDO, OHIO. Does anyone in OHIO know why he was in that state ? I figure there is relatives in OHIO we're connected to some how. CALEB'S first wife was a CATHERINE FRYE, his second wife was a lady with the first name of MARIE or MARIA last name is UNKNOWN. Does anyone know his second wife's true first and last name (maiden) ? 3. Welcome aboard, Mr. Bolin, and, Thanks, Anne for the hook-in I'm very happy to see that you're on-line. I have copies of the correspondence between your wife, Jane, and Ramona Manchester Tryon a number of years ago. At least, I had it; it's with Dan Brevik (our chief archivist, database organizer and web spinner) in Marlborough now. As well, I made contact with Mr. Moritzky, your nephew, I believe. He sent me a message that he had spoken with his Aunt Jane, given her my details and she was going to call me. If I hadn't been such a poor letter writer, you would have had a letter a year ago, at least. If you're wondering how it is I'm writing to you, Russell, we are trying to spread the research and development load for establishing The Tryon-Union on the Web. So I accepted Dan's request to vet the Canadian entries with the exception of Pam Wood Waugh's Quebec/NY/VT families. I write you separately and let you know the technical details of our efforts. I'm just back from my annual genealogical pilgrimage to Upper Canada and Northern states. My three days in Kingston were quite profitable but, as usual, also opened many new cans of wigglies. I still have to post much data; there are Johns, Sagers and Williams in Lennox & Addington (L&A), I suspect, tied into the same family. I was only just able to access some of the written record for L&A in the Ontario Genealogical Society (OGS) library. There is a big void before about 1820 which almost everyone stumbles over. But, we shall persevere. I made a few contacts while in Kingston who have proferred help (on-line.) Anyway, if you would give me a few days to study your data and enter it with mine, I'll get back to you with what I've put together. In the meantime, if you'd like to have a look at our web site just click on: http://www.tryon-union.com/ and have a preliminary look-see. As well, we have a discussion group for which I'll send you the joining instructions. 3. I found the following Query in the OGS Newsletter 25:07 p91 from: Jacqueline Elderkin 870 Fell St. San Francisco, CA 94117-2508 She seeks parents, siblings of Nancy Tucker b. allegedly 15 Apr 1800 in Catskill NY, possibly child of William and Charlotte (Tryon) Tucker. Nancy married Guy Carlton 10 Dec 1818 Geauga Co. OH and died there 1876. Is this possibly a desc of the Charlotte Tryon, dau of Edward and Mercy (Harris) Tryon who was born 1779 in Saybrook? Vicki

    1. Chaffee - Goodell - Tryon connection
    2. Vicki Titus
    3. I am on my favorite soapbox - but I think I may have got somewhere. I still can't connect all the dots, but I had someone resend me the write-up on John Goodell, the man living in Allegan Co. NY who raised his "niece"'s little girl. I suspect that he raised his father's niece's little girl - the article is really confusing. That would make her his cousin's dau. The girl's name was Eliza FERGUSON... like in the Hannah (Goodell) Ferguson that married Warner Fay Chaffee, Lyman's uncle. The article insists that John's father Nathaniel was born in VT, as do all census entries of the family. If Hannah and Nathaniel are indeed out of the line I think they are, all of them are from Pomfret, Windham Co. CT. Could have the birth's been registered in Pomfret, even though the baby was actually delivered somewhere else? I suspect that Nathaniel is the Nathaniel b. 1776 to Nathaniel and Sarah (Parkhurst) Goodell or the one b. 1782 to Richard and Mercy (Parkhurst) Goodell. The family was in the process of migrating from CT to VT at that time. In fact, Nathaniel and Sarah married in Mass in 1775 and Nathaniel 1776 was their first child, b. VT. The write-up says that John was born in 1824 in Palmyra Co. NY, and that they removed there shortly after the War of 1812. I checked and guess how far it is between Palmyra and Canandiagua? 13 miles from town center to town center. I should have Palmyra deed info in a while. (Canandiagua was were Benjamin was circa the same time, right?) I checked the 1820 census for Palmyra - really the census index. There are two Goodell's there, Nathaniel and Morey (sic - I think it's Mercy). I suspect that Mercy is a widow at this point, so the Nathaniel could be her son, or the older Nathaniel who married the Parkhurst. They removed to Erie Co. NY circa 1836, by which time, the Tryon's were in Western NY also, in Chemung/Tioga Co. area. Then they moved to OH, where they met the Goodell's, but from the article, it's hard to tell if they met them for the first time, or joined them there after a separation. These Cooley's are from VT, Royal and Sabra (Austin) Cooley. (This connection is why I am interested in Tryon-Cooley marraiges.) Does anybody else have any other connections to these names elsewhere in their lines? Vicki

    3. We are talking about the Peter Tryon who married Sarah Steven's, right? It seems like he had a dau b. Antrim Co. MI according to the MI IGI. Julia was her name I think. I find the Lewis Tryon really interesting. Confirmation of a connection to the Lewis family? As in the Sally Tryon who married Calvin Lewis. As she is a "proven" sister to the Benjamin Tryon of Allegan Co. MI, is that enough proof to count her among Benjamin Peter Tryon's children? I have more info on her, if you want it. I also find it very interesting that Granison LOSEE, Morgan LEWIS and a ????? Stevens all live next to each other in Hinton TWP, Newaygo Co. MI. All 3 married into the Tryon family of Greene Co. NY. (Losee adopted Adelia Chaffee, gr dau of Adelia (Tryon) Chaffee.) I | have a copy of Peter's obituary also. | Now, regarding Benjamin and Magtel. For sure Benjamin married twice. | He married Susannah Palmer in 1800 and Lydia was their child. I don't find | other children by the 2nd marriage but there could have been. Remember | Benjamin was 60 years old when Lydia was born. 3. Sorry it's taking so long to get the articles to you. Between the UPS strike screwing up my local mail service and my husband getting sick.... again, yet, still, I haven't had much time for genealogy. However, I did type in the articles, and they are attached. Hopefully, next week will be better. Vicki ---------- | From: J. 3. While browsing the IGI today, I found the following: Marraiges performed in Coxsackie Dutch Reform Church. Ransom Losee and Sally Ann Palmer, 1836 (Ransom????) Hiram Losee and Maria Fitch, 1829 Looks like both Losee's and Palmers were both members of Coxsackie Dutch reform church. The names also appear in Dutch Reform Church in NYC and Fishkill. I have also been able to trace why the Losee name is familiar. Charity Losee, dau of Simon Losee married Timothy Titus in 1745. This was probably in Suffolk Co. NY
