I thought you might all be interested in what I recently heard at a family reunion. This comes from a fellow researcher in his mid-90's, who is now blind, and no longer researches. He told me: "John Trover and 3 sons moved from the PA area to KY. One son, (the 4th son) George Trover stayed and settled in Beaver Co., PA. One of John's other 3 sons was supposedly burned at the stake by 'Indians'." He said that he couldn't remember where he learned this information, but thought it was either through Pat Hites Cunningham (her mother was a Trover and she was a genealogist) or in a county history. His memory wasn't fantastic, but he was very precise about George Trover's father being John Trover from the revolutionary war during the 3 times I asked him about it. Has anyone ever heard about a son being burned at the stake? This does not seem accurate for Native American behavior in my experience. Thoughts? I searched all Beaver Co., PA county histories, and came up blank. Does anyone have any ideas? Does anyone know what happened to John Trover's other sons? I contacted the DAR for copies of anyone's application who used John Trover as an ancestor to join the DAR, and they have no record of anyone using John Trover. Does anyone have a copy or transcription of John Trover's pension records? Does anyone know John Trover's wife's name? My records indicate (from Pat Hites Cunningham, via Arnella Barris) that George's mother was a "Martha Trover" who died in Rockingham Co., VA in about 1815. I know John Trover lived in Rockingham Co., VA before moving to Hopkinsville, KY.
