    1. [TRIGG]JOHN J TRIGG and my THOMAS GOULDING/GOLDEN/GOLDING GA FAMILY
    2. Tom Dunklin
    3. My Goulding (my direct line’s spelling) line is first found in Lumpkin, Stewart Co, GA in early 1800’s. Thomas Goulding married Maria/Mariah Trigg ca 1838? She was born ca 1815 Bryan Co, GA to unknown mother and John James Trigg. John was said to have been married 4 times. Believe first wife, Maria’s mother, is still unknown. John James Trigg died 12-20-1856 Stewart Co, GA and is buried in Wesley Chapel cemetery. I descend from Thomas and Mariah’s son, John H Goulding. My Goulding’s later moved to Central Texas ca 1870. Most think Thomas died in GA but he is shown in Texas after their move from GA. Maria/Mariah was later shown living in John’s home. Have info on several of Thomas and Mariah’s children. 3. After a long period of time, during which it must have felt as though Ancestry had abandoned our mailing lists, they are spending a lot of time and effort into bringing the software up-to-date. The entire mailing list system is being transitioned from Mailman-2 over to Mailman-3. The new system will see many changes in the way we do things, but will give us a stable approach into the future. One of the biggest and most immediate changes is that you must re-register as a member of the Mailing System - this does not mean you need to re-register for every list individually, but simply as a new user of Mailman-3. To do this go to: https://home.rootsweb.ancestry.com/listindexes/setupmail/ and follow the instructions there. 3. Hi Paula, I have been researching my great-grand father Daniel Trigg for many years and have been wondering if John Triggs and Nancy Allen were his parents. I have the following letter written by one of Daniel's sons and it states: "My father, Daniel Trigg was B. 8 May 1848. He said that his father died when he was 11, and he was sent to live with two uncles in Northern Kentucky or Virginia. He ran away at 13 and was mustered out B The Confederate Army at Galveston, TX. His mother's maiden name was Allan. She died before his father." I need to follow up on the information to see if John and Nancy died on the approximate dates that are in the letter to see if they may be connected. This is all of the information that I have. 1. [TRIGG] MARIA OR MARIAH TRIGG GOLDING/GOULDING OF STEWART CO GA ca 1840-1870's: THEN TO FREESTONE CO TX
    2. TOM F DUNKLIN via
    3. Can anyone help prove or disprove any of the following regarding my gg gparents: Thomas A Goulding (but shown as Golding in early years) married a Maria or Mariah Trigg/Triggs ca 1838-40 in GA. Lived in Stewart Co GA until moving to Texas. Believe her father to be John J Trigg/Triggs. I need to know if the correct spelling is TRIGG or TRIGGS. I've seen it both ways. Maria/Mariah Goulding named a son James Trigg Goulding. Bible record of James Trigg/Triggs shows daughter Maria marrying a Thomas A Golding. Tax records in Stewart Co GA show him as being her agent for land left to her by her father. Thomas A Goulding and Maria/Mariah left GA in the 1870's and settled in Freestone Co Texas in a community called Cotton Gin. He has tax records in Freestone Co in 1878 and 1879 but is presumed dead by 1880 as Mariah is living with a son, John Goulding by then. My Goulding line is almost complete back to Thomas and Mariah but am still confused by spelling of surnames. My Goulding line is shown in numerous records as Goulding/Golding/Golden/Goulden, etc. The Goulding surname has been used for our family since the mid1800's.  Most mis-spellings are probably due to census taker error, but which is correct? Mariah's name is often spelled Maria as well as Mariah. Trigg and Triggs are often used in records. Would love to know for sure just what Mariah's complete legal name was and when and where she and Thomas died. Paula

    3. Looking to contact someone considered "expert Triggs researcher." I need answers to several questions about John James' several wives and which children belonged to whom. Believe he was in Burke county in early years and in Stewart Co GA later in life. As I understand it, John J had at least 2 children born ca 1815-1818 but no one seems to know who the mother of these two daughters might be. After that time, I see that he had at least 2, maybe 3, more wives and other children. Would like to confirm that there was a Sarah Ann Triggs, born ca 1815 GA, who married a Green Berry Allday. Seems there is no Allday/Alday rootsweb mailing list to address this inquiry. Another daughter was Maria Triggs, born ca 1817 GA, who married Thomas A Golding. Both daughters are mentioned in Rev John James' last Will and Testament. My interest is in Maria Triggs Golding. I may possibly have some data on this Maria but need additional information to be sure. My ancestral line is Goulding but this surname is spelled so many different ways that it's difficult to know for sure. There are some documents with the spelling of Golding that I know belong in my family line. Plus, my Gouldings/Goldings were in Stewart Co GA during the same time period. Can anyone help me with Sarah Ann and Maria Triggs? Any and all help appreciated. Paula

I know my grandfather was William Franklin or Frances Trigg.  He died when I was 2 years Old.  He was married to Fannie Mae Sullenger from KY.  Everyone in the family is deceased..Only us grandchildren are left.  There were 9 girls born of the marriage and they are all deceased.  One was my mother, Pauline Trigg.  I will I could help you but don't know much about the them...I grew up around them but was never talk about family, And unfortunately when I was little and did visit them, my grandmother was a very cold complex person and I never seemed to like her.  To me she was a cruel person, Sorry I could not be of much help.  I have some of all this written down but it is stored away, and right now I amnot very well...but will get my housekeeper to get it down for me an I will try and go through some of it. 2. TOM F DUNKLIN
    3. I find that there is no rootsweb list for the TRIGGS surname but understand that this Trigg list also includes that name? Trying to learn more about the Rev John J Triggs and his earliest born children. I have reason to believe that his second daughter was Maria Triggs, born ca 1816, maybe in England? If I am trying to connect to the right Maria, she would have died in Freestone Co TX after 1900. In Rev Triggs' final Will, he leaves some property to his daughter Maria and mentions her husband, Thomas A Golding. This property was in District 21, Stewart Co GA, probably around Lumpkin GA. My Goulding family also was shown in the 1800's  21st district of Lumpkin, Stewart Co, GA as Golding on some documents/records. They are also show as Golden and Goulden, as well. What confusion this has caused. Regardless, a lot of what I know about my Goulding family members could very well connect to the Triggs surname. My GG grandfather was Thomas A Goulding/Golding/Golden, born ca 1818 and his wife was named Mariah. She was born ca 1817; most records show born GA but a couple say England. On some family records she is also shown as Maria. I've looked at several trees on Ancestry and one tree in particular seems promising. However, there is no wife shown who could have been the mother of Maria or Nancy Triggs, born ca 1815. The Rev was married 3 or 4 times but his very first wife is unknown. Think he married again ca 1824 so that eliminates Maria and Nancy. Believe the first wife could have been married to him while in England and it has been mentioned in my family history that either my Thomas or Mariah was supposed to be from England. Can anyone provide a connection or more information to these families? Paula

    3. I believe that the House and Sims surnames may have a connection thru my Goulding/Golden/Golding, etc ancestors. Two daughters of Thomas Goulding/Golden/Golding etc and Mariah Rigsby/Triggs?? were born in the early 1840s in Stewart Co GA. I think some of the descendants of these two families ended up in Freestone and/or Limestone Co TX later on. I could really use some help in finding out more about my Goulding ancestors; my branch used the Goulding form of the surname. My Gouldings ended up in Freestone and/or Limestone county Tx, as well. Thomas and Mariah were both born in GA and by 1840-1850 were in Lumpkin, Stewart Co GA where their children were born. Thomas died between 1870 and 1880 in GA and my branch was brought to Texas by son, John H Goulding. John, mother Mariah, and the remaining siblings still at home came to TX by 1880. They are on the 1880 Freestone Co Tx census. Daughter Sarah M Goulding born ca 1840 GA married a William T Sims in Stewart Co GA in March of 1860. They both died in GA and are buried in Wesley Chapel Cemetery in Stewart Co. Possible siblings of William T Sims: Geo. A Sims & John H Sims? Did William and Sarah have any children? Daughter Margaret Goulding born ca 1843 Ga married William Hiram House(Jr.?)in 1866 Stewart Co GA. William H House born Sept 26, 1842; died Aug 7, 1928 GA. William and Margaret are also buried in Wesley Chapel Cemetery. Possible child:        Charles C House, born in 1869 GA; died 1953 in Teague, Freestone Co, TX.        Married Fanny D. Wright. Believe Charles and Fanny's children could be            Jewel House and Jesse C House? On the 1860 Stewart Co GA census, there are at least 5 families connected to my Gouldings living close to each other. They were:     W. H. House (b ca 1810 NC) and Mary Jane (Branberry/Granberry?) with children (1) William H; (2)Anne E. (3) James J. (4) Amanda (5) Virginia (6) George (7) Sarah and (8) John. All born between 1843-1859.    Elizabeth House, age 72 born NC; living alone    Thomas House (b ca 1837) and Emily with children Emma and Joseph W.    The Joshua Willett family with a daughter named Ann who married James T.    Goulding.    The Lawrence Smith family with daughter Rhoda who married John H Goulding. This is my branch of the tree. More than willing to correct this information; would really appreciate proof that this info is correct. Paula

    2. TOM F DUNKLIN
    3. I have found some new information about my gg gfather, Thomas A Goulding, that needs verifying. However, with all the different spellings used for his surname, it's very difficult. Numerous records for my Thomas show his surname spelling with many variations such as..Goulding/Golding/Golden/Goulden/Gouldin, etc. My Texas branch has always used Goulding for our name. I could use some help.   Thomas, born ca 1818 GA may have been in Burke or Bryan counties of GA in earlier 1800's...between 1818 and 1840. No idea who his parents were. He is later found in 1840/1850/1860 and 1870 Stewart Co GA with a wife named Maria or Mariah. Believed he died in Stewart Co GA between 1872 and 1880. It has been thought that her surname might be Rigsby but now I think it could have been Triggs.   John J Triggs had a daughter by the name of Maria and in his family bible he listed a marriage between his daughter Maria and one Thomas A Golding. Though the surname spelling is different, I have found a few known documents with my Thomas' name spelled Golding. Also, in John J Triggs' last Will and Testament, he left property to his daughter in Stewart Co GA and named her husband as a Thomas A Golding. My Thomas A Goulding lived and raised his children in District 21, Lumpkin, Stewart Co GA. Thomas A Golding was also shown as wife Maria/Mariah's agent on GA Property Tax Digest records.   Wonder if anyone has any Goulding connection to Burke, Bryan, or Lee counties of GA or to the surname of TRIGGS?    Paula

    3. Hi My Trigg family are from Dorking in Surrey. Working backwards from my Denyers in Godalming, 1643-1709 married Elizabeth Trigg I can proved they married in many documents but have never found the marriage It must have taken place abt 1679-1773 Elizabeth Trigg was daughter of Henry Trigg, tallowchandler of Dorking, and Jane Constable (born Ockley). Henry died in 1671, left a will and inventory. Jane his widow died in 1680 and left a will, and George Denyer was one of the executors. Subsequently there were three legal cases in Chancery. Among Henry and Jane Trigg's children were Henry junior, married to Temperance Finch, and John Trigg (a grocer in Southwark) who married Joan Hunt. Henry Trigg junior died in 1683. In one legal challenge, in 1682, Henry Trigg jun sued George Denyer regarding the will In the next challenge, Temperance Trigg sued John Trigg regarding the will Temperance now remarried to Richard Smithers and Richard and Temperance now sued George Denyer (Note this is addressed to George Jeffreys, Lord Chancellor (the hanging judge) who is also in my tree. Attached to these cases is a massive inventory of Jane's possessions, which isby far the longest and most detailed. I have the legal papers online but not the inventory. http://cotswan.com/documents.htm Henry Trigg was son of Edward Trigg who died at Dorking in 1628, he left a non-cupative will. There are also Triggs in Godalming but have not found a connection to these Bob

    3. HI All, My TRIGG names come from Hampshire around the Odiham/Hartley Wintney/North Warnborough area in the 1770s to 1870s when they moved to London. Stuck with the birth date and location of JOHN TRIGG who married SARAH TRIMMER at Odiham Parish Church on 3 Nov 1804 - both described as "of this parish" but an expanding search into local villages and towns has not thrown anything up yet. Would have been born 1776 to 1778-ish from his age on his death certificate in 1842. Nothing relevant on Ancestry. Kind regards Chris -----Original Message----- From: MICHAEL LYNN Sent: Wednesday, May 22, 2013 7:47 PM To: trigg@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [TRIGG] Administrative Note & Roll Call hello,my name is michael lynn.i have been researching the tree of my aunt--eleanor elizabeth trigg.she was born in gloucester on13 april 1927.she married my uncle---cecil alexander lynn at st.oswalds, coney hill, gloucester on09 october 1948.i am interested in any relative in her family.(her parents were percy frank trigg andbeatrice sarah harris).any information would be greatly appreciated. ________________________________ From: Ian Marr <ian_marr@bigpond.net.au> To: trigg@rootsweb.com Sent: Wednesday, 22 May 2013, 4:05 Subject: [TRIGG] Administrative Note & Roll Call Hello TRIGG List Members, My name is Ian Marr and I have just taken over as administrator for the TRIGG Mailing List. I note that we currently have 34 members. I also note that the list has been very quiet for some time, so I thought we should liven things up a bit by inviting a "roll call". That is, let's re-post our interests and see what happens. My own TRIGG connection will be posted shortly. Also, it might be worthwhile to visit the list FAQ. This will probably appear at first sight to be some sort of draconian attemp to impose law & order, but it is simply meant as a general guide, that if adhered to, will ensure we all get maximum results and maximum enjoyment from our list participation. You can find the FAQ at: http://home.vicnet.net.au/~marr/FAQ.html So, onward and upward, let's get into the roll-call - and don't forget, meaningful Subject lines please :-) Regards, Ian MARR List Admin - TRIGG Mailing List ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to TRIGG-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to TRIGG-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message
