My maternal grandfather, Anton Schmitt, 1861-1923, was born in Kaschenbach; his own grandfather, Peter Arnoldy, 1785-1860, was from Scharfbillig. Anton emigrated to America in 1883 with his father, two brothers and three sisters. In Kansas, he met and married Elizabeth Mandernach, 1867-1944, who was also from this area. Recently, I found a passenger list with the names of Elizabeth and her mother Margaret. They arrived in New York in 1888. The handwritten town of origin looks like "TrimpelDahlem." On a detailed map, I found two towns named Trimport and Dahlem that are close together, so I imagine this is where they came from. All of these towns are close to Trier. Has anyone visited any of these towns? Would any church records be available? My grandparents were Catholic. Dwight Fine
