I live near Elkhart Lake, WI which is the County adjoining the Town of Russell. Although there is a Catholic Church in the Village of Elkhart Lake, I do not believe it is that old. Probably the church for the Town of Russell is in the Village of St. Anna, which is on the boarder with Calumet County and only about 10 miles south of Chilton. There are several Catholic churches in Sheboygan, but that is at least 25 miles east of Russell, a far distance to travel in those days. The Catholic church in St. Anna has been there for many years.
