Florence, You do not send stamps. You are supposed to send International Reply Coupons. IRCs are purchased at your local post office. Be forewarned the receiver is only allowed to use one coupon. AND, many local POs in Germany will not accept even that. If you are sending to the local church, it has been my experience that the churches in Germany (in nearby Baden and Würtemberg area) will not even send a courtesy reply, let alone act on the request. Most letters immediately go into a "dead letter" box in the church office, because they have no one to answer it. (Consider their responsibility is the church, not genealogy.) Besides, many times their records have been sent to the church archive and are no longer at the church. In addition, they know we have better access to their records at our local LDS Family History Centers.
