    1. TRIER-ROOTS-L Grun Family of Nennig

    3. Hi, My ancestors, the Jacob Grun family: wife Maria Esch Grun and adult children immigrated in the early 1880s and settled in Chicago. Jacob's parents, Nicolas Grun and Margaretha Sabeler married 18 Jan 1810 in Remich and settled afterwards in Nennig, Saarland, Germany. Nicolas was born in Koenigsmacher, France; later moved to Mondorf, Luxembourg. It is possible Nicolas and Anton Grun (Belgium, Wisconsin immigrant) were half brothers (same father-different mothers). The Belgium, Wisconsin Grun family were referred to in a 1999 TRIER-ROOTS-L listing. The e-mail address for Melissa is no longer valid. I am interested in this relationship and also in finding where the family moved from Nennig, after 1864, (somewhere in Alsace-Lorraine), prior to immigrating to Chicago. There is a Nennig Familybook in the Diocese Archives Trier: Wagner, Heinrich, Family Album 1 Nennig 1696-1893. Possibly this information is in this book, but I do not know how to access it. Thanks in advance for any help. JoAnne
