    1. RE: Trier emigrants to Wisconsin
    2. Dear Kathy, is it possible to start a Trans-Atlantic connection ? I am trying to create a database of the most emigrants from Trier region. But I stopped until the last year because of beeing busy, mooving from Gilzem to Trier with my girl friend from Trier). Friends in Luxemburg trying to do the same for their country. The region is related very close to eachother, but also connected to Loraine in France and East-Belgium (west of Luxemburg near Athus up to Malmedy in the north). Very early emigrants 1842-1857 came from: a) Bitburg, Matzen, Moetsch, Fliessem, Nattenheim, Kyllburg, Wilsecker (a circle of 15 miles north and northeast of Bitburg). b) the area between Daun and Mayen (a lot of smal and poor villages) (starting 40 miles east of Trier) c) Kell (near Schillingen), Schillingen, Waldweiler (all 20 miles south of Trier) d) a lot of early emigrants from Luxemburg can be found in "The Luxembourgers in the new World", by Nicolas Gonner/Dubuque/IA). 3. Werner, here's a little data for your files. Four brothers, sons of Johann Gilles and Margaret Palms emigrated to Wisconsin in 1846. Their village in Germany was Schoenfeld, near Stadtkyll. They settled in the town of Marshfield in Fond du Lac County -- subsequently moved on to northeastern Iowa and western Wisconsin. Germans to America: 1840-1850 shows Sille, Johon, age 26, traveling with Anna, age 29, and Gertrude, age 3 months. Bark Stadt Antwerpen, from Antwerp to New York, docking in New York July 1, 1846. On the same ship were Gille, Nicolos age 18, traveling with Paul age 20 and Thomos age 24. From the Castle Island online data base. 3. Hello Werner & all I have many ancestors from these areas . Schlitz from Moetsch/Masholder that Werner kindly provided informations about. my 4th great grandfather Peter Schommer abt 1700 from Kell info provided by Josef Besch from the Sudlicher Hochwald database and Benny Dages translating info from Reiner Schmitt author of a familienbuch in the area of Hermeskeil . I recently found a website while surfing the internet for Nicholas Schneider from Kehrig near Mayen. These emigrants settled in Chicago and some ended up in Detroit Michigan . There was another group that went from Chicago To Winona Minnesota . I have ties to both groups. There seems to be several entries in World Connect , but no one ties them together . Johannes Peter Schneider Kehrig died Jan 1733. is the ultimate one on record. I have submitted my gedcom to the Sudlicher Hochwald site http://www.online-ofb.de/hochwald/karte.php? I provided documentation on my basic line in form of death certificates copies of Lds records on microfilm e tc. Additional info that I provide later for example the Schneiders will be based on other peoples research , that I truly believe to be accurate. . I would like to see a centralized database . 3. Hi Werner and all I am sending 5 individuals plus 5 children, that immigrated from the area. Did you want only immigrants that went to Wisconsin? I do have others as well. 1)Peter and his wife Julianna Sossong, are our direct ansesters that immigrated from Damflos, in the Trier area with three small boys. Peter born 17 Oct 1826, Damflos and Julianna 6 Nov 1826 Reinsfeld Immigrated ship Howard ,Dec 1855 from Antwerp to New York Harbor, stating a destination of Chicago, but came directly to Minnesota, Eagle Creek, Scott County. Peter and Julianna's ship records are in Germans to America and also in list of Trier Immigrants 2)Johann Peter Dellwo is a second cousin, and immigrated to the Chicago area. His wife is not from our area. 1842 I do not have ship records. 3) Nikolaus Dellwo is our Peter's brother from Damflos and immigated with his wife Catharina Maria Kronenberger born in Triergarten (unknown dates) sometime in 1866 with two small children no records found except an emmigration record from Rhineland area. I do not have ship records, still looking. I know approxamate date because of land records and Ist naturalization papers and census records. They came directly to Minnesota to the Scott County area of Eagle Creek, to buy a farm next to Peter and his second wife Mary Fogarty ----- Original Message ----- From: <Werner.Lichter@kabeldeutschland.de> To: <TRIER-ROOTS-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, June 27, 2006 2:01 AM Subject: [TRIER-ROOTS-L] RE: Trier emigrants to Wisconsin > Dear Kathy, > > is it possible to start a Trans-Atlantic connection ? > I am trying to create a database of the most emigrants from Trier region. > But I stopped until the last year because of beeing busy, mooving from > Gilzem to Trier > with my girl friend from Trier). > > Friends in Luxemburg trying to do the same for their country. > > The region is related very close to eachother, but also connected to > Loraine > in France and East-Belgium (west of Luxemburg near Athus up to Malmedy in > the north). > > Very early emigrants 1842-1857 came from: > > a) Bitburg, Matzen, Moetsch, Fliessem, Nattenheim, Kyllburg, Wilsecker > (a circle of 15 miles north and northeast of Bitburg). > b) the area between Daun and Mayen (a lot of smal and poor villages) > (starting 40 miles east of Trier) > c) Kell (near Schillingen), Schillingen, Waldweiler (all 20 miles south > of Trier) > d) a lot of early emigrants from Luxemburg can be found in "The > Luxembourgers in the new World", > by Nicolas Gonner/Dubuque/IA). > > Werner J.
