I understand that my Schilling and Gotto relatives emigrated to the U.S. from Trier, Prussia, Germany in the 1850's or 60's. I do not know which city they called home, but my great grandmother evidently spoke often of the Black Forest. There are many Schilling families who emigrated to Wisconsin, but my relatives settled in Dubuque, County, IA. The Schilling's evidently spent some time in JoDavies county, IL. before moving across the Mississippi to the Holy Cross- Bankston area of Dubuque county. hcremer5@mchsi.com
