    3. Ruth, Did any of your Diederich line marry into a KOLBET/ KOLBERT ( K interchangeable with C) and go to Iowa?? mid to late 1800's? I think Diederich is a common name in the Trier area. I have done just a little research on this line as Kolbet / LICHTER is my husband's main line. 3. Hello: I came across this name while researching the Luxembourg community in Stearns County and Benton County, Minnesota. Susanne Kolbet/Kolbert married John P. Goedert. Susanne was born in Holsthum, Germany. She and her parents apparently lived for awhile in Iowa and later came north to central Minnesota. Her mother's name was Catherine. The father's name was Anton, apparently a younger brother to a Nicholas Kolbet who settled in Iowa. Susanne Kolbet Goedert had a brother who was a schoolteacher at St. Nicholas, Minnesota and also in Benton County. I am trying to find my notes on them. Most of the information I found on Ancestry.com in the census records. The family is listed in Joseph Mergen's manuscript on Emigration out of the District of Trier in the 1900's.
