Help help help. got your list Kathy and tried them all, but I do not read German, thus I could not find the link to the books or the cost or the address where to send for them The sites are all in German and all have tourist stuff on them, and I could not find the Trier area Familienbucher, although I know I have been on that site before. So know there must be others like me, or I would just email and ask Karen or Patty G or Joanne M or one of you nice people that have helped me so much. So what we need is DETAILS. I thought I had a email address from Werner from long ago, but it wasn't complete. So again I ask, is he still a part of this list? Does he give his mail address out? Or can someone walk all us Novices ( as far as the language goes) through getting to a list. One more thing, I have been around a time or two, so don't know what my problem is, perhaps it is because I am getting old. But everytime I really start searching in the German records, I have to re-learn. I am extreemly sorry. I can get those records another way, but that won't help the others on the list. Thank you all so much for being so helpful. marge as part of my re-organizing project, all my links and towns are being put in a loose leaf notebook, so hopefully that might help some of the rest of you. paperwork, paperwork
> All about Familienbücher: > http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ortsfamilienbuch If you don't understand German, try using BabelFish to translate. It can do entire web pages. http://babelfish.altavista.com/ > Lists of Familienbücher: > http://wiki.genealogy.net/index.php/Kategorie:Ortsfamilienbuch > http://www.volkmar-weiss.de/publ5.html These are lists of available Familienbücher, listed in alphabetical order. Click on the name of the village of interest, and you will find the publication information for its Familienbuch. > Search for a Familienbuch by name of place (Ort): > http://www.rolf-freytag.de/fhilfe/myphp/index.php All of the above just tell you whether there is a Familienbuch available for any particular village. > Online indexes to Trier area Familienbücher: > (Click on "ABC-Listen") > http://www.genealogienetz.de/vereine/wgff/trier/ The Trier area group of the Westdeutsche Gesellschaft für Familienkunde (West German Society for Family History) has put the indexes for their Familienbücher online. Click on "ABC-Listen" in the left-hand pane to get a list of the villages for which indexes are available. Click on the village name to go to the index. > Vendors of Familienbücher: > http://www.rolf-freytag.de/ > http://www.volkmar-weiss.de/publ5.html > http://www.andreas-scholer.de/heribert/fambuch.htm > http://home.debitel.net/user/bungert.h/site01.htm These are vendors who sell Familienbücher. You'll have to correspond with them yourself to see how to obtain the books. As to Werner Lichter-- he shows up on this list about once or twice a year, then disappears. You should be able to find his email address in the archives. Just search for his name. I have yet to receive a reply to any email I've sent him. Good luck!
