This info was NOT from offical source, so I would like to follow upon this. I am completely new at searching Luxembourg, nor do I understand the history of the area. My line came to USA about 1850 (-/+). Any suggestions has to (1) short history book on Luxembourg (2) genealogical resources, would be most appreciated. Thanks in advance, Eleanor >> Elanor: From one Gutland Luxembourg descendant to a Belgic Luxembourg descendant, here's the best web site on the net for Luxembourg: http://www.igd-leo.lu/ I have many, many more, too. But I think you need to look at Belgium, so here is the Benelux webring site: http://start.at/benelux (YOUR FAMILY IS FROM BELGIUM---THE PROVINCE OF LUX IN BELGIUM. THEIR NAME WOULD SEEM TO FIT, TOO. SO, YOU MUST KNOW YOUR HISTORY. THIS WEB SITE WILL HELP. BUT YOU SHOULD FIND BENELUX WEB SITES. I think between 1815 and 1839 it was that The Province of Luxembourg lands were split off from the Grand Duchy lands and given to Belgium.)
