Hi: I have a 1781 map of the region. In looking at what would be the old "Prevoste de Thionville", i.e., a province that is now modern-day France, bordering the southeasternmost area of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg: I find ANOTHER Beringen/Bertrange (in other words, I am not talking about anything by that name which would be in today's Grand Duchy of Luxembourg). I see that several village names are repeated from Grand Duchy (such as Illingen). This village would be just northeast of Richemont, on the other side of the Moselle River. Don't know if this helps. Regards, Melissa (Source: LeDuche de Luxembourg, Divise en Quartier Walon, et Allemand, 1781, Paris)
