    1. [TRIER-ROOTS-L] DUCARM/DECARMES Surname
    2. Mary Ann Unger
    3. Hi, all, I'm new to this list. I'm trying to find the origins of Christoph DUCARM (also spelled DeCarmes in neighboring towns) who was born circa 1700 and died in 1780 in Eppelborn parish (includes Calmesweiler). His wife Susanna Koenig d. 1765 in Eppelborn parish. Children born in Eppelborn parish: Joannes b. 1733 Nikolaus b. 1735 Joann Peter b. 1737 Elizabeth b. 1739 Maria b. 1739-40 Franziska b. 1742 Caspar b. 1744 The name DUCARM probably comes from the French DuCharme (Picardie region and north & west drop the "h"). Those emigrants to the Banat in the 1760s (Nikolaus and Joann Peter) maintained the older spelling of the name (DUKARM) while the family name today in the area is DECKARM. Anyone familiar with this surname? Mary Ann R. Unger
