Jim & Don, If we want to be totally correct, then there are two spellings for the village. Wissembourg is the French spelling and Weißenburg is the German spelling. (Note the ß = ss) The Alsace (Elsaß) district has historically been both French and German so depending on the period of interest either spelling may be found in documents. I don't mean to be nitpicking either.
