My great-great-grandparents Jacques Bernardy (1805-1883) and Marguerite Senninger (1805-1885) emigrated to the US with their 4 children (Jacques, Barbara, Nicholas, Anna) in 1847. Jacques was from Wintrange, Remich, Luxembourg and was the son of Francis Bernardy and Marie Weber. He apparently had 1 brother Pierre and 2 sisters, Eve and Marguerite but I don't have any information about them. Jacques and Marguerite and family went through Buffalo, NY and settled in Belgium, WI (north of Milwaukee). The Buffalo route tends to indicate that they landed in New York City and took the Erie Canal to Buffalo and then the Great Lakes to WI. I have information that they left from Antwerp on a voyage that took 52 days. I reviewed the ship passenger lists for ships from Antwerp to NY in 1847 at the US Nat. Archives but wasn't able to find their names. It is possible that I missed the ship or couldn't read the handwriting. I believe that there were quite a few Luxembourgers who emigrated about that time. Can anyone tell me what ships they came on and when they landed at NY? This might help me go back and recheck the passenger lists. Any help would be appreciated.
