Hello, Brenda, My Turbes immigrant was Hubert Turbes -in 1857 he and his wife Anna Grosjean and their children came to New Ulm, Minnesota from Manderfeld, Prussia,Germany. That area became part of Belgium in 1919. He was born in 1818 in Herresbach, a few miles from Manderfeld ,to Martin Hubert Turbes and Maria Susanna Klinkers. I am trying to find out if Hubert had siblings and if they stayed in that area or emigrated to the USA. Martin Hubert's father was Wilhelmus Turbes whose wife was Elizabeth Hammes whose father was Martinus Hammes. That is as far back as I go. My mother was Magdalen Turbes born in 1897 in Wanda, Minnesota to Christian Turbes, son of Hubert, and Anna Ross daughter of Hubert Ross and Anna Marie Christen, also from Manderfeld. My mother married Frank Schneider from Springfield, Mn.and moved to St. Paul where I grew up. If you are a Turbes we should be related. I have never heard the name outside of my family.I have numerous cousins especially in Minnesota. Looking forward to hearing from you. Joan Schneider Born
