I am looking for the family ELKMANN in Westphalia. According to his 1921 application for a marriage license (in NY), my grandfather Gustav Elkmann was born in 1895 in Senaktau Germany. His father was Johann and mother Maria Bohile. Johann is listed as being born in Germany and Maria as being born in France. Family tradition is that he was from the region north of Cologne. I don't have any idea where Senaktau might be and can't find it on any of my maps of Germany. Gustav is supposed to have had 7 brothers and a sister, Evangeline. All of the brothers were supposed to have been killed in WW1. From what I have been able to learn, there are now very few Elkmann's remaining in Germany. Paul Elkmann pje@nrc.gov
