Aurora, IL. was the site of a large contingent of Luxembourgers starting in the 1840s. The majority seemed to come from the Echternacht Canton. Most of my ancestors came from Osweiler and Berdorf in Echternacht Canton but my grt grandfather and grandmother Walt sometimes said they came from Luxembourg and sometimes from Trier. They did know however that their name was changed during the emigration process from Wald to Walt. arlene s.
