    1. Re: [TRIER-ROOTS-L] MOLITOR FAMILY
    2. Dear Antonio: My Molitor family goes back to the year 1700 in PIERSPORT, Germany. It is 55 km east of Trier on the Mosel River. By 1785, or so, my line of Molitors from PIERSPORT went to BORN in Luxembourg - west of Trier. In 1790 my g-g-g-grandfather was born in BORN. I don't know if he had siblings. In 1856 he, his wife, children and grandchildren sailed to the United States and settled in Minnesota, U.S.A To be successful in your Molitor search, you will need to know the town where your immigrant ancestor came from. Luckily, I found an obituary which stated his birth town as BORN, Luxembourg. I located the birth record in BORN, and when I found his parents marriage record in the same town. The marriage records told me where each person came from. Finally, I found the birth records for the father in PIERSPORT, Germany. And so on and so on..... My ancestors left Europe from Antwerp and went to New York City. I have their passenger arrival record. Keep researching records in your country before you try for records in Germany. It will be impossible to do any research in Europe without the name of the town of origin. Good Luck, Karen Langer Laguna Niguel, California, U.S.A.
