Hi..... I am new on the list. Am not sure if this is the right list for me. I am researching the name HERSCHELMANN and HAMMEL My ggrandfather was John HERSCHELMANN b:Sept 1849 in Hockspear My ggrandmother was Louisa HAMMEL b: Aug. 8, 1847 in Hockspeyer I am not sure wictch is the correct name of the town or in what part of Germany it is located. They imigrated to U S in 1867 and 1871 They were married Nov. 10, 1872 in Cleveland , Ohio. I have seen a census record where the name was spelled Hoerschelmann, but in most places it is Herschelman.
